All-New Mercedes-Benz B-Class Now in Malaysia for RM240K

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia quietly launched two models today, one of which was the all-new B-Class. The B-Class is their compact MPV model that sits on the same MFA2 platform as the current 4th generation A-Class family. In Malaysia, the B-Class is available in just one variant: the B 200 Progressive Line which is priced at RM239,888 excluding insurance (Peninsular Malaysia).

The B 200 Is powered by a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor capable of 163 hp and 250Nm of torque. This power gets sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed (most probably dual-clutch) automatic giving this little people mover a 0-100km/h time of just 8.2 seconds. No surprises, given it’s an identical set up with the A 200 5-door hatchback.

The Progressive Line exterior means you get a silver-painted twin louvre and chrome insert on the radiator grille, a front apron with chrome insert, side sill panels, and 18″ 5-twin spoke light-alloy wheels for a slightly sportier look. The rear bumper has two-part lamps, integrated reflectors, black bottom section with a faux diffuser and chrome trim. A large roof spoiler is present as well.

Inside, you get the familiar A-Class-esque cabin with black Artico leather upholstery and Comfort Seats. MBUX is present and can be activated by saying “Hey Mercedes” and giving it commands naturally.

The centre console with touch-based control and input system comes with a black panel look similar to the E-Class. The ambient lighting with 64 colours is also present.

Driver assistance systems help keep the B-Class safe on the road. Features like Blind Spot Assist and Active Brake Assist are key components in the vehicle’s safety suite.

The all-new Mercedes-Benz B 200 Progressive Line is now more dynamic and agile on the road, with greater comfort and space. It is now more practical and chic than ever, making it the perfect car for the whole family. It comes with the 1.3-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces an output of 120 kW (163 hp) and maximum torque of 250 Nm, giving it an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 8.2 seconds.

With the Progressive Line exterior, the B-Class has a characteristic that combines the best of both worlds – functional meets accomplished sportiness. The design and equipment line substantially enhances the car with radiator grille with silver-painted twin louvre and chrome insert, front apron with chrome insert, side sill panels and the 18-inch 5-twin spoke light-alloy wheels, giving it dynamic proportions. The relatively squat, progressive front end with flowing transition from bonnet to A-pillar and on to the windscreen, along with the muscular shoulder of the body, underlines the sporty overall look.

At the back, the width of the vehicle is accentuated by two-part lamps, reflectors integrated in the bumper and a distinctive black bumper bottom section with diffuser look and chrome trim strip. The large roof spoiler, along with high-gloss black spoilers at the sides of the rear window, makes for improved aerodynamics while ensuring a sporty appearance.

Its interior features a welcoming, wrap-around cabin which sweeps seamlessly from the dashboard, centre console and around into the doors. With the ARTICO leather upholstery in black, Comfort Seats and black

The centre console with touch-based control and input system comes with a black panel look similar to the E-Class. The ambient lighting with 64 colours and ten colour worlds is unique in this segment, allows individual adjustments to suit the mood.

The new B-Class is also the second car model after the A-Class to feature the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) multimedia system. Its other strengths include touch screen control as well as a high-resolution Widescreen cockpit, navigation display with Augmented Reality technology plus intelligent plus voice control with natural speech recognition, which is activated by saying “Hey Mercedes”.

The new B-Class comes with driving assistance systems with cooperative driver support, lending a helping hand while on the road, keeping families out of harm’s way. It comes with the Blind Spot Assist – radar sensors that monitor the areas directly alongside and behind the car. It helps warn the driver when there are objects detected while changing lanes. It also comes with the Active Brake Assist, which can help mitigate the severity of rear-end collisions with slower-moving, stopping or stationary vehicles ahead.
