Honda City Hatchback Patent Images LEAKED!

It looks like the rumours of a Honda City Hatchback might actually be true! Brazilian Instagram page ‘canalcarros‘ just shared these photos:

Here’s they’re original post:

Here’s what their description reads when translated from Portuguese to English:

BOMB! NEW HONDA CITY HATCH.
Leaked registration images of the hatchback version of the new generation Honda City. The configurations must follow those of the sedan with 1.0 turbo three-cylinder engine, 122 horsepower and 23.8 kilometers per liter. If you come to Brazil with the sedan, it can be presented in the last quarter of this year, with sales starting in the middle of 2021..

Our Thoughts

Honda Motor is doing something interesting with their B-segment lineup this generation. Their latest Honda Fit/Jazz model seems to be taking a more upmarket, clean, electrified approach, while the 7th generation City takes on more premium and sporty character with a new turbocharged engine while sporting similar chassis underpinnings from previous models. On top of that, Honda has taken the effort to trademark Honda City Hatchback name in several countries, including under MyIPO in Malaysia.

We have a strong feeling that because Honda Motor has some pressure to increase electrification across the board, they will attempt to make the Fit/Jazz their 2nd EV before long, and in the meantime push it as an e:HEV product in more developed markets or where tax incentives bring its price down. The City Hatchback may be pushed as a Jazz replacement in developing markets throughout South East Asia and South America.

Additionally, these photos look just like the ones accurately leaked before the 10th generation Civic Hatchback was launched, indicating that these are in fact Honda’s official design.
