Proton X70 Now Equipped with N95 Cabin Filter
If there’s anything positive about the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s the increased awareness of respiratory health. The conditional movement control order (CMCO) announced by the government will see the return of heavy traffic to the city and while exhaust fumes and dusts from surrounding vehicles are not as deadly as the coronavirus, they are the last thing you want to inhale.
If that is your concern, then Proton has some good news. The 2020 Proton X70 will now come with N95 cabin filter, which can remove 95% of particles that are larger than 0.3µm (microns) and 98% of PM2.5 dust particulates. The automaker says the cabin filter is better than the average filter and can lead to an allergy-free environment.
As an integral part of the air-conditioning system, the N95 cabin filter can function in both fresh and recirculation modes, as long as the blower fan speed is switched on. However, as effective as it may be, the filter is unable to eliminate viruses on surfaces so don’t throw the hand sanitizers away yet.

The N95 Cabin Filter as the name suggests, can remove 95% of particles that are larger than 0.3µm (microns). Additionally, it can remove 98% of PM2.5 dust particulates, which is important to promote respiratory health. In simple terms, the N95 Cabin Filter is more efficient than the average dust and pollen filter, and thus able to remove more contaminants.
Apart from effectively filtering smoke particulates, dust and bacteria; it can help to promote an allergy-free environment by reducing allergens from pets, aphids and pollen. Now, everyone can breathe easy inside the 2020 Proton X70 equipped with the N95 Cabin Filter.

Working together for the safety of the nation
As PROTON does their best for the safety of their customers not only through the air they breathe in the cabin environment, PROTON has also started producing face shields at PROTON’s headquarters in Shah Alam for medical frontliners as the Company reinforces its commitment to help fight the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Malaysia.
The Company has received contributions from its vendor community who are eager to get involved. One such contributor is Pos Logistics Sdn Bhd, one of the biggest logistics service providers in Malaysia. They contributed over 2,000 large carton boxes that will be used to pack the face shields and make it easier to transport them.
Automotive component supplier, HICOM-Teck See Manufacturing Malaysia Sdn Bhd, is another vendor supporting this initiative. They have contributed 1500kg of polypropylene, one of the main components in a car bumper, which will be used to produce the frame of the face shields.
The original design for the face shield was contributed by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UITM). The designers at PROTON Design then developed the frame based on feedback from end users and also added the slogan STAY STRONG! We will get through this!
Not forgetting the 50 staff members who volunteered their services, work on an assembly line to measure and cut the various components required before assembling the final product. Up to 3,000 units can be produced in a single day, and the Company is expected to take approximately 20 days to produce the 60,000 units it has committed to deliver.
