Citroën C5 X Is The Company’s New Flagship
The Citroën C5 X is the company’s top model, but we won’t get it in Malaysia.
Citroën’s product portfolio is being updated. Less than a year ago, we got the 3rd generation C4 model and now we’ve been shown the C5 X. This will be the company’s flagship.
As you can see from the design, it combines elements of saloon and estate design with just a tinge of crossover elements for that extra appeal in today’s market. Interestingly, this model was previewed back in 2016 at the Paris Motor Show as the CXperience Concept.
The V-shaped light signature has been fully embraced since then and integrated into the production car’s design. There are even little chevron motifs in the lower part of the front bumper.
Petrol and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) options will be available for the C5 X and it will go on sale in the UK this year. The PHEV option has an output of 225hp, can cruise on pure electric power at speeds of up to 135km/h with about 50km of electric range.
Two main concerns when designing the new C5 X was comfort and space. Citroën has fitted this vehicle with their Advanced Comfort Active suspension which has three modes to control the stiffness of its Progressive Hydraulic Cushions. Citroën claim that the suspension is able to glide over roads AND give the car extremely precise handling when necessary.
In terms of space, the boot has a generous default load volume of 545 litres. This can be expanded to 1640 litres if the rear seats are folded down. This is a D-segment vehicle measuring 4,805mm in length, 1,865mm in width, and 1,485mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,785mm.
