Honda Hands Over City RS e:HEV To Invest Melaka Berhad

The car was presented to IMB as part of its celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the state’s development corporation

Recently, Honda Malaysia and SOCAR handed over the all-new Honda City RS e:HEV to Invest Melaka Berhad (IMB) in conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration of Melaka State Development Corporation (PKNM).

Launched in October last year, the City RS e:HEV utilises Honda’s latest intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) hybrid system which consists of a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a pair of electric motors. This combination produces a total system output of 108 PS and 253 Nm.

Another highlight of the range-topping variant is the inclusion of Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies which includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Auto High Beam (AHB).

Honda Malaysia (or the Company) today officially presented the All-New City RS e:HEV to Invest Melaka Berhad (IMB). The presentation is in collaboration with SOCAR Mobility Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (SOCAR) and is in conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration of Melaka State Development Corporation (PKNM). The All-New City RS e:HEV was presented by Mr. Sarly Adle Sarkum, President and Chief Operating Officer of Honda Malaysia to Tuan Haji Ramli Bin Mohd Ali, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Melaka Berhad at a ceremony held in Menara MITC, Melaka. The ceremony was graced by Chief Minister of Melaka YAB Datuk Seri Utama (Dr.) Haji Sulaiman bin Md Ali together with the Melaka Secretary of State and Melaka State Executive Council Members.

Commenting on the handover, Mr. Sarly said, “On behalf of Honda Malaysia, we are delighted to be a part of the celebration by Invest Melaka Berhad and to be able to contribute to the development of our local automotive industry. Honda began operations at Pegoh Plant in Melaka over 17 years ago and currently has two production lines with a production capacity of up to 100,000 units of vehicles per year. We are committed to the Malaysian market and the growth of the automotive industry here. We would like to thank the Malaysian Government, the State Government of Melaka, Invest Melaka Berhad and all our valued customers for their continuous trust which enables Honda to be the company that society wants to exist. With the strong support received, we have recently celebrated our remarkable milestone of 1 millionth sales unit. The All-New City RS e:HEV was launched in October last year and is a game changer model in its segment with pioneering advanced technology, unmatched performance and stylish design. The exterior design of the All-New City RS e:HEV variant carries a presence that is striking with New Gloss Black Front Grille, Exclusive Lower Front Grille, New Rear Bumper with Diffuser, New Gloss Black Trunk Spoiler, New Gloss Black Door Mirrors as well as Dual‑Tone 16‑inch Alloy Wheels. Within the interior, the All-New City RS e:HEV variant highlights high-quality textures and a sophisticated premium feel. It is fitted with Ultrasuede® Seats¹ and Red Stitching, offering an overall package that is beyond its segment.

Additionally, it is also equipped with a highly efficient 2-motor hybrid system powered by a 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) system. The e:HEV system is revolutionary as it is able to deliver 109PS and best-in-class high torque of 253Nm. When combined with Electric Continuous Variable Transmission (e-CVT), it delivers a powerful and smooth acceleration that is equivalent to a D-segment Naturally Aspirated engine torque. The e:HEV system can seamlessly regulate between the three driving modes which are EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive in the most efficient way.

The All‑New City RS e:HEV is the first model amongst Honda’s line-up to be furnished with an innovative Honda CONNECT technology which utilizes smart Telematics Technology, providing an advanced and integrated 24-hour communications system. It also functions to ensure Safety, Security & Convenience to Honda car owners. Key functions of the Telematics technology in Honda CONNECT include Vehicle Diagnostics, Remote Applications, Security Applications, Vehicle Tracking and Support Services – all of which are aimed at easing owner’s accessibility to their vehicle and its information whenever and wherever. The innovative technology also features Emergency Call (e-Call) function that elevates Mobility as a Service (MaaS), which is one of the three main thrusts of Malaysia’s NAP 2020. In summary, Honda CONNECT embodies Honda’s vision of value creation for mobility and people’s daily lives which is also in line with the Malaysian Government’s direction in promoting the NAP 2020.

Next, the All-New City RS e:HEV also comes with the enhanced Honda SENSING, which was developed to realize the vision of a collision‑free mobile society by utilizing a front wide view camera to better recognize road boundaries during day and night driving conditions. The suite of driver assistance safety systems in Honda SENSING are as below:

  2. Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  3. Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  4. Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
  5. Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)

Besides these advanced technologies, the All-New City RS e:HEV is also packed with first in its class features namely the Honda LaneWatch and Electric Parking Brake (EPB). It also comes with a standard host of safety features which include Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Rear Seat ISOFIX I-SIZE Type and New Rear Seatbelt Reminder. Other additional safety features in this variant include Reverse Sensors with Multi-angle Reverse Camera and Auto Brake Hold (ABH) which enables the vehicle’s stationary position to be held with only a push of a button.
