BMW C400X and C400GT Scooters Updated In Malaysia

BMW Motorrad Malaysia launch two new mid-sized premium scooters – the C400X and the C400GT.

With the lockdowns slowly being eased for the automotive sector in Malaysia, we get our first vehicle launches of August 2021 from BMW Group Malaysia. They’ve released a whole slew of 2-wheelers of the R 1250 GS and G 310 variety as well as a couple of new C400 scooters. In this post, we’re covering the newly introduced C400X and C400GT scooters.

BMW Motorrad scooters are their second most popular class of vehicle in Malaysia, just behind the Adventure segment, so these two new additions are bound to find quite a few owners locally.

What’s new on both the C400X and C400GT?

Common to both the new BMW C400X and the new BMW C400GT is a revised brake system, as well as an EU-5 homologated single-cylinder motor with a new E-gas (electronic throttle grip) feature. A new centrifugal clutch has also been added.

Drivetrain Improvements

The 350cc motor has an output of 34 hp at 7500rpm and 35Nm of torque at 5750rpm that sends power to the rear wheel via a CVT with a torsional drivetrain swing arm to minimise vibrations. The throttle is now electronic and known as “E-gas” and this controls an electronic throttle valve.

Optimisations within the engine include:

  • modified matrix and coating of the catalytic converter
  • a wideband oxygen sensor
  • modification of the cylinder head
  • new sensor on the generator cover
  • adapted wiring harness
  • modified idle speed control
  • deletion of the idle speed regulator in the airbox
  • throttle valve bypass and turbulence system now controls idle speed

In terms of software, the engine management and Automatic Stability Control (ASC) both have been optimised.

Safety and Security

The ASC now features automatic radius calibration and increased regulation quality for better control on wet surfaces. The braking system now features new brake calipers with a double-disc brake system at the front with more stable and defined pressure points, as well as better roll-back behaviour of the brake pistons.

Advanced Keyless Ride feature now is standard and offers transponder activation for steering lock, ignition, fuel-filler flap and anti-theft device in one key.

Equipment Improvements

Besides that, the in-seat storage and USB charging equipment feature a new illumination design.

The lightining system now illuminates from above the seat storage for better clarity. There’s also now a 12V onboard socket. Also featured is a USB charging socket in the front right storage compartment.

Both models now feature LED daytime running lights as standard.

Paint Options and Pricing

The C400X is available in Black Storm (Style Triple Black) only for RM44,500

The C400GT comes in Black Storm (Style Triple Black), Callisto Grey and Alpine White for RM48,500.
