Suzuki Hayabusa Launched In Malaysia – RM111,200
This flagship sportbike from Suzuki needs no introduction
Just two months after marking its return to Malaysia with the launch of six new models, Suzuki Malaysia Sdn Bhd has further expanded its offering to include two more models, namely the Suzuki Hayabusa and the V-Strom 1050XT. In this article, we will be highlighting the former.
This new generation of Suzuki’s flagship sportbike is powered by a 1,340cc, inline-four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that produces 190 PS at 9,700 rpm and 150 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The engine has been given a number of upgrades, including a new Suzuki Side Feed Injector (S-SFI), a ride-by-wire electronic throttle system and a newly designed exhaust system, to name a few.
Boasting a 50:50 front-rear weight distribution, the Hayabusa’s high speed stability and controllability is derived from fully adjustable 43mm KYB inverted front forks and KYB link-type rear suspension, while stopping power is anchored by four-piston Brembo Stylema callipers paired with 320 mm discs at the front and a single 260 mm rotor grabbed by a single-piston calliper at the rear.
The suite of electronics system is spearheaded by the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.), which combines a set five of electronic features i.e. Power Mode Selector, Anti-Lift Control System, Bi-Directional Quickshift System, Engine Brake Control System and Motion Track Traction Control System.
Design-wise, the Hayabusa remains instantly recognizable as its restyled body retains the cues that were inspired by the peregrine falcon. It features one of the best drag coefficients found on any street legal motorcycle, contributed by Suzuki Ram Air Direct (SRAD) intake ducts, chrome-plated mouldings in front of the air ducts, a new aerodynamic windscreen and new streamlined mirrors.
For the Malaysian market, the Hayabusa is available with three colour options – Glass Sparkle Black/Candy Burnt Gold, Metallic Matte Sword Silver/Candy Daring Red and Pearl Brilliant White/Metallic Matte Stellar Blue. It is priced at RM111,200 excluding insurance and registration and comes with a 2-year or 20,000-km full factory warranty.
