First-Ever Honda City Hatchback Is Now Open For Booking In Malaysia

The first-ever Honda City Hatchback is now available to book from authorised dealers in Malaysia.

Honda Malaysia has officially opened order books for the first-ever, all-new Honda City Hatchback with a launch date anticipated before the end of 2021. The City Hatchback is based on the current City sedan and replaces the Honda Jazz, which was locally assembled in Malaysia. Though it is not made clear, it’s quite likely Honda Malaysia will be assembling this vehicle in Pegoh, Melaka, as well.

Just like the Honda City sedan, the City Hatchback will be offered with either a 1.5L petrol or an e:HEV powertrain.

The City Hatchback RS e:HEV gets a 1.5L Sports intelligent Multi-Mode Drive powertrain – a unique hybrid system that can use both electric and/or petrol power for maximum efficiency and performance. This drivetrain has 109PS and 253Nm of torque available on tap. The Honda City Hatchback V (and lower grades) come with a more conservative 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine with 121PS and 145Nm of torque, sending power to the front wheels via a CVT automatic.

From the outside, the City Hatchback takes the well-received look of the latest City and gives it a 5-door bodystyle. The company has decided to mirror how they’ve specified the sedan model. As such, the City Hatchback RS e:HEV comes with sporty touches such as a high-gloss piano black front grille, black solid wing face, gloss black door mirrors and a rear diffuser.

Both the RS and V models benefit from LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED front fog lights and LED Rear Combi lights as well as 16″ alloy wheels. The RS and V models also come with Remote Engine Start and Honda LaneWatch, which enables a real-time camera feed for the left blindspot when the left turn signal is activated or when the LaneWatch button at the end of the signal stalk is pressed.

The RS alone gets an Electric Parking Brake and Honda Sensing via a front wide-view camera. Honda Sensing on the City Hatchback includes:

  1. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  2. Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  3. Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  4. Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
  5. Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
  6. Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  7. Auto High Beam (AHB)

Inside, the City Hatchback returns the seating flexibility found on the Jazz with 4-Modes ULTRA Seats. This allows the interior to be configured in Utility, Long, Tall and Refresh setups, depending on what’s needed. Rear air cond vents are also featured.

To book the all-new Honda City Hatchback, head to any authorised dealership, call Honda Malaysia’s toll free number (1-800-88-2020), head to their website or download the HondaTouch application for iOS or for Android.
