Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Coming To Malaysian Soon
This is also the rebirth of Royal Enfield in Malaysia.
Here is a motorcycle that wants to entertain you in a simple way. It is simple retro looking motorcycle with enough elements to bring a smile on the riders face in daily commuting.
This is motorcycle that will give any rider a lot of riding fun without being very fast or very edgy. It is simple, robust machine with tons of heritage. This is the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
Royal Enfield has been manufacturing motorcycles since 1901, effectively making them one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers in the world. The company was founded in Redditch, UK in 1891 when founders R.W. Smith and Albert Eadie took over the Townsend Cycle Company.
Soon after, they started supplying precision machine parts to the Royal Small Arms Factory in Enfield, Middlesex. Their undertaking is renamed the Enfield Manufacturing Company Limited. In 1893, the company was renamed to Royal Enfield, with the word “Royal” lifted from the Royal Small Arms Company. The trademark ‘Made Like a Gun’ was introduced.
The British Royal Enfield was dissolved in 1971. Thankfully, the Chennai based Enfield of India established in 1955 between Royal Enfield and Madras Motors, is doing very well. Enfield of India continued building the “Bullet” long after the Redditch, Worcestershire-based company was closed.
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is a retro naked middleweight with a 649cc engine that makes 47 hp at 7250 rpm and 52Nm of torque at 5250 rpm. It is inspired by the iconic 60’s Interceptor with its greatest following in the American west coast, this new Interceptor 650 Twin reimagines the sun-drenched California beach lifestyle.
This modern classic is the essence of a British roadster with a dash of a California Desert Racer blending timeless style and contemporary performance. Rival bikes you may consider include the Triumph Street Twin and Kawasaki W800.
You will soon be able to buy this Interceptor and other Royal Enfield motorcycles from Didi Automotive who have taken over the Royal Enfield distributorship for the Malaysian market from SNH Bhumi Corporation Sdn Bhd in January 2022.
