Panerai, the Florentine watchmaker famed for supplying timepieces to the Italian Navy, has revealed a limited edition Luminor Goldtech with a perpetual calendar.
Only 33 pieces of this watch will be made and every purchaser will be invited on a unique trip to Florence for the Panerai brand experience. Here are some details on the new Italian timepiece. The automatic movement P.4100, created by Panerai, animates the Luminor Goldtech Calendario Perpetuo. The movement offers intuitive setting that requires no corrector or tools, permitting adjustments to the day, date, month and year through rotating the crown in either direction. Moreover, there are no limitations to the freedom to make adjustments, including during month-end periods and approaching midnight. The GMT function operates alongside the hour and minute hands, with the subdial at 9 o’clock featuring the day-night indicator and small seconds. A 22-karat micro-rotor winds and stores energy in two barrels. The chronometric precision and regulation of the movements is ensured by an assortment that beats at 4Htz.
The inventive display is a fitting companion for the groundbreaking caliber, showing it to its best advantage. A smoked sapphire crystal dial allows complete visibility of the day and date discs, providing an uninterrupted view of the interior architecture of the watch. Through the sapphire caseback the month, year, leap year and power reserve indicators are visible.
Composed of Panerai GoldtechTM, 750‰ gold with platine, the 44mm Luminor case is a classic silhouette in the Panerai design lexicon. Except for the crown-protecting device, the caseback and the buckle, its surface is polished to a high shine, creating a radiant frame for each elegantly arrayed feature. The black patina alligator strap possesses a matte finish that exudes refinement and understatement. Water- resistant up to 5 bar (about 50 meters deep), the Luminor GoldtechTM Calendario Perpetuo features a trapezoidal pin buckle in Panerai GoldtechTM. A screwdriver to remove the buckle accompanies the watch together with a black rubber second strap.
