Ferrari 296 GTS Spider Arrives From RM1.4 Million

The new hybrid Ferrari 296 GTS sparks a new dimension of fun behind the wheel.

The Official Importer and Distributor of Ferrari in Malaysia, Naza Italia, has just launched the new electrifying 296 GTS at the Sepang International Circuit marking the Southeast Asian debut of Maranello’s new mid-rear-engine two-seater Berlinetta spider following it’s global reveal back in April this year.

Along with the 296 GTB, this mesmerizing monster was built for the sole purpose of redefining what it means to have fun behind the wheel. Whether you’re taking it slow or putting the pedal to the metal, these cars guarantee a ride of pure emotion unlike any other.

The 296 GTS is powered by a Turbocharged 120° V6 coupled with a plug-in electric motor that sends power to the rear wheels via an 8-speed DCT and E-Diff.

This version of the V6 present in the GTS was first introduced on the 296 GTB and the turbochargers sit in the vee of the cylinder banks which helps clear more room in the engine bay, reduce the centre of gravity and engine mass of the car while delivering insane power.

Mr. Dieter Knechtel, President of Ferrari Far East and Middle East Hub, said, “It’s clear that hybrid and electric power is the way forward and Ferrari has invested significantly in steering the brand in that direction.

The key consideration is to incorporate this next generation technology without compromising on power and maintaining driving engagement. The 296 GTS has been engineered to deliver just that – thrilling performance with the concept of ‘fun-to-drive’ at the heart of its design.”

Furthermore, the 663 cv and 221 cv/l on the 296 GTS V6 has set the new specific power output record for a series-production road-going spider as the engine features equally-spaced firings and is more compact which helps distribute mass across the car much better.

Other aerodynamic features include ‘aero callipers,’ a type of brake callipers with ventilation ducts integrated into their castings and smaller air-intakes made possible by the more compact engine.

Inside, the GTS features an entirely digital driver cockpit. The goal of it was to be minimalistic and the instruments go black when the engine is off to achieve this. The seats are Exclusive Italian Leather to remind you that no matter how minimalistic this car is, it’s still a Ferrari.

If all this doesn’t convince you, then the sportier Assetto Fiorano package may be more your speed. A package meant to deliver maximum performance, this package significantly reduces the weight of the car and adds special GT racing-derived adjustable Multimatic shock absorbers perfect for track use while utilising more lightweight material like carbon fibre for the interior and exterior of the car.

The Ferrari 296 GTS comes with a 7-year maintenance program and is available from the base price of RM1,448,000 (before duties, customisation options, taxes and insurance). For further details, contact the Ferrari Malaysia Showroom.
