Mitsubishi Triton Phantom Plus Edition Now Available In Malaysia
The Mitsubishi Triton Phantom Plus Edition is a limited production run of the Triton A/T Premium.
When it comes to pick-up trucks, few can deny the Mitsubishi Triton has been quite a success in South East Asia. This is angular facelift model has been around for about 3+ years and is still going strong in both the consumer and commercial markets. The Triton Athlete variant was introduced as the flagship, but there was still some room for another lifestyle-oriented take on the pick-up at a lower price point.
That’s why Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia today launched the Triton Phantom Plus Edition for RM139,700 (Peninsular Malaysia price, OTR private registration w/o insurance). This version of the hi-riding 4X4 pick-up builds on the Mitsubishi Triton A/T Premium specification, but adds loads of new features in order to increase its appeal to the outdoors lifestyle-oriented market.
Only 1,000 units of this Phantom Plus Edition will be made and all of them will be in Jet Black Mica.
The changes to this variant are mostly cosmetic but some of the additions do make off-roading easier for the Triton. The new 18″ gloss black alloy wheels, for instance, are now covered in Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tyres, which will help the Triton take on rugged terrain.
There’s also lots of black and red plastic body cladding throughout as well as a bumper garnishing that should protect the Triton’s metalwork from dents and scratches while off roading.
The pick-up also has a matte black sports bar and rear spoiler as well as Phantom tailgate moulding. ‘PHANTOM PLUS’ body decals are also applied along the outside of the truck bed.
Most intriguing are the new roof-mounted LED lights from HELLA.
Inside, the new variant comes with leatherette seats with a unique stitch pattern in red. It has also got unique Phatom Plus mats with red accents. Completing the interior is a 9″ Touch-enable infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto readiness, though this is available on the Triton as an option.

The Triton – Phantom Plus Edition is powered by a 2.4-litre MIVEC turbodiesel engine, which produces 181 PS max power and 430 Nm max torque with Variable Valve Timing technology. Safety-wise, the Triton – Phantom Plus Edition comes with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Active Stability Control (ASC), Traction Control (TC), Rest Reminder, Hill Start Assist (HSA), and Trailer Stability Assist (TSA).
The Triton – Phantom Plus Edition is also equipped with a Driving Video Recorder (DVR) offered by MMM authorized dealers as standard at all Mitsubishi Motors showrooms nationwide.
For control, the Triton – Phantom Plus Edition is fitted with Easy Select 4WD with off-road mode for optimum handling characteristics in any given terrain. The Triton – Phantom Plus Edition also comes with Hill Descent Control where the vehicle speed is electronically controlled while it is in a descent mode.
The Triton- Phantom Plus Edition also delivers an impressive turning radius of 5.9m, making parking or turning in the tightest spaces effortless.
