Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Life Variant Launched In Malaysia For RM173K
The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Life is the new base model in their Malaysian SUV family.
The Volkswagen Tiguan made some waves back in 2017 when it was introduced at an attractive price just before the Proton X70 came around. This locally-assembled family SUV was later upgraded to a 7-seater with the ‘Allspace’ suffix and then given a facelift earlier this year. Today, Volkswagen Passenger Car Malaysia introduces a new Tiguan Allspace Life variant, slotting below the Tiguan Allspace Elegance (RM180K) and Tiguan Allspace R-Line 4MOTION (RM225K) models as the base model at RM172,990.
Fundamentally, the Tiguan Allspace Life is a stripped down version of the Tiguan Allspace Elegance with the same 1.4L TSI engine and 6-speed DSG sending power to the front wheels. This new Life variant also has the same 150PS and 250Nm of torque output. Being an Allspace model, it too has 5+2 seating with 230L-1775L of cargo space. It’s also good to see that Volkswagen has not cut down on the safety features to reach the new base price. It still comes with 6 airbags, Multi-collision brakes, Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS), Lane Assist and Driver Alert systems intact.
Some key features that are still present on the Tiguan Allspace Life include the 9.2″ Discover Pro infotainment system, the 11.7″ digital instrument cluster, the powered tailgate, 3-zone climate control, electric parking brake, multifunction leather sport steering wheel, 18″ Frankfurt alloy wheels, full LED lighting and more.
The RM7,000 difference in price comes from the following changes:
- “Horizon Black” instead of “Barrel Craft” decorative inlays for dashboard and front door cards
- Deletion of 30-colour interior ambient lighting system
- Deletion of illuminated front door scuff plates
- Fabric door and side trim upholstery instead of leatherette material
- “Life” fabric seat upholstery instead of leather with perforated inserts
- Deletion of electric height, lumbar adjustment to front seats
- Deletion of Active Climate function for front seats
These are other possible deletions that were NOT listed on the brochure for the new variant, nor were they mentioned in the press release:
- Electric front seat adjustment
- Paddle shifters
- Easy Open & Close sensor for electric tail gate
The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Life comes with three years of free maintenance, five years/unlimited mileage warranty and five years roadside assistance. Colour options are as follows:
- Metallic
- Atlantic Blue
- Platinum Grey
- Pyrite Silver
- Pearl Effect
- Deep Black
- Oryx White
