The BMW iX has been a very popular electric SUV for the company and sales have been better than expected despite the stiff competition from rivals like the Mercedes EQC 400 4MATIC which is priced at RM388k.
So, to start 2023 on a high note, BMW Malaysia has announced product updates for the BMW iX xDrive50 Sport.
Production at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing using purely green power, monitored raw materials extraction, high proportion of natural and recycled materials
The BMW iX is produced at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing. Both the vehicle itself and the battery cells is manufactured using green power across the board.
The BMW Group procures the cobalt and lithium required for the high-voltage batteries from controlled sources in Australia and Morocco and delivers it to the battery cell manufacturers. The design principle for the electric motors allows the use of rare earth metals to be avoided in the drive system rotors. Added to which, the company sources aluminium produced using power from solar energy plants.
A high proportion of secondary aluminium and reused plastic also contribute to the resource-efficient production of the BMW iX.
Its interior uses FSC-certified wood, leather tanned with olive leaf extracts and other natural materials. Recycled fishing nets are among the raw materials used for the floor coverings and mats.
This New BMW iX xDrive50 Sport comes equipped with 22-inch BMW Individual aerodynamic wheels 1021 multi-colour with a 3D polished buff and 17-inch brake calipers in Blue. Arriving as standard in the New BMW iX xDrive50 Sport is also the BMW Iconic Sounds Electric that creates a premium immersive atmosphere, demonstrating the immediate connection between sound and vehicle.
Inside, the BMW Live Cockpit Professional is ever-ready to welcome its driver, along with a curved 12.3-inch instrument display and 14.9-inch central display fitted as standard. Comfort and convenience come in the form of multifunctional seats for the driver and it is further elevated with storage for wireless charging and automatic air conditioning with 4-zone control.
Onboard entertainment is also provided via the Harman Kardon surround sound system for the New BMW iX xDrive50 Sport.
The New BMW iX xDrive50 Sport combines fully electric driving pleasure, sportiness, complemented by a long range and outstanding efficiency. The all electric vehicle has an output of 523hp, accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in only 4.6 seconds.
With a maximum torque of 765Nm and an electronically limited top speed of 200km/h, the all-electric SAV is powered by a battery which packs a large capacity of 111.5kWh, allowing for a range of up to 630 kilometres (WLTP) per charge.
Arriving with the Flexible Charger Cable Mode 2 and Fast Charging Cable Mode 3, the New BMW iX xDrive50 Sport can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 35 minutes with the use of a DC Fast Charger, and 0 to 100 percent in 10 hours and 45 minutes with an 11kW AC Wallbox Charger.
Also standard to the all-electric SAV are the Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices, ConnectedDrive Services, Connected Package Professional, BMW Natural Interaction and Active Protection via the high-resolution BMW Live Cockpit Professional.
In terms of assistance, the New BMW iX xDrive50 Sport features the Driving Assistant Professional, Parking Assistant and new cruise control with braking function.
Standard exterior colour options for the New BMW iX xDrive50 Sport include the Mineral White, Alpine White Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic, Sophisto Grey Metallic with Brilliant Effect, Phytonic Blue Metallic, and Blue Ridge Mountain Metallic.
Two new colours are also available with an additional charge of RM6,200, namely the Individual Storm Bay Metallic and Aventurine Red Metallic. Inside, owners may choose between Interior Design Atelier in Mocha or Black, or opt for the Interior Design Suite in Amido or Castanea for an additional RM17,300.
