Chevron Malaysia Limited Appoints Dean Gilbert As New Chairman
Chevron markets Caltex and now has a new Country Chairman in Malaysia
Chevron Malaysia Limited, simply known as Chevron, which markets the Caltex retail brand in Malaysia, has just appointed a new Country Chairman and he is none other than Dean Gilbert. I am excited to see where he takes the brand from here and see whether or not it will achieve greater success.
For those who are unaware, Chevron is one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies which produces crude oil and natural gas, manufactures transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals and additives and also develops technologies that enhance both business and the energy industry.
Moreover, Dean Gilbert will serve this new role at Chevron as part of his capacity as General Manager, of International Products – Southeast Asia, where he is responsible for the commercial and retail sales and marketing of Caltex fuels and lubricants products in Malaysia.
With this new role, he will also be accountable for driving enterprise value across the fuels supply chain and leading Chevron’s strategy in energy transition in building a lower carbon future in Malaysia. Hopefully with this, we can see Malaysia shift to lower carbon and electrification sooner rather than later.
Prior to becoming the Country Chairman of Chevron, Gilbert was previously the General Manager of Marketing and Sales Support based in Singapore, where he was instrumental in strengthening the Caltex brand’s overall customer experience from the forecourt and non-fuel offerings to launching CaltexGO.
On top of that, CaltexGO is one of the first mobile payment solutions for service stations in Asia and expanding new market segments to customers such as in the e-hailing service sector. Chevron has made life much easier in many ways by introducing technology and services like this and I hope it continues to do so.
Hailing from New Zealand, Gilbert brings more than 27 years of international industry experience from his past Chevron assignments in Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, the United States, and his home country as well. This will translate well into his new role here in Malaysia.
