Geely Galaxy L6 PHEV Sedan Details Shared Ahead Of Launch

More details of the upcoming Geely Galaxy L6 have been publicised.

Geely have been aggressively expanding with new brand acquisitions, partnerships and also with more internal products. One of their internal product lines that have been introduced is the ‘Galaxy’ series, which will pioneer their electrified front first with PHEVs. The L7 was shown previously and now we’re getting more information about a second product called the Galaxy L6.

The Geely Galaxy L6 PHEV is a sedan that is being built on the Compact Modular Architecture (e-CMA), which is shared between Volvo Car and Geely.

There will be three battery capacities offered:

9.11kWh (lithium-ion)
18.7kWh (lithium iron phosphate)
19.09kWh (lithium-ion)

These are paired to a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine, a 3-speed DHT and dual motor electric drivetrains. Two pure electric ranges (48km and 105km) are available, though we’re not sure how these are put together with the three battery options. The PHEV system is known as NordThord Hybrid 8848. Output is expected to be 287kW with a performance version capable of 488kW.

While the Geely Galaxy L7 SUV was priced around US$19,500, this L6 sedan’s official pricing will only be revealed in August though there’s reason to believe pricing will begin at around US$14,000.

In terms of looks, the design language of the Galaxy L7 has been repeated here. Styling cues include a two tone roof, minimalist design, a closed-off grille, T-shaped bumper inserts and dark glossy headlight and taillight covers that stretch across the length of the face and rear end. While the front grille was already pretty tiny on the L7, it’s 30% smaller on the L6 thanks to efficiency improvements in the cooling system. Another design aspect that helps to improve aerodynamics are the retractable door handles.

The external dimensions of the Geely Galaxy L6 PHEV sedan are as follows:

length: 4782mm
width: 1875mm
height: 1489mm
wheelbase: 2752mm
curb weight: 1750kg

This puts it around the size of your typical Corolla, Civic, Elantra, class vehicle in the C-segment. Rim sizes are 17″ and 18″ with varying designs available.
