Mitsubishi Motors To Show HR-V Competitor Next Week

Mitsubishi Motors are showing an all-new compact SUV at Gaikindo Next week.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation is starting to gain some momentum. Last week, they revealed their all-new Triton and now the company is readying up to show an all-new compact SUV model at next week’s Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show.

According to the specifications and look of the all-new compact SUV, our guess is that Mitsubishi Motors aims to market this model as a competitor to the Honda HR-V in South East Asia. The reason we think that is that it is pretty close in terms of dimensions to the HR-V, plus it also comes with a 1.5L petrol engine and CVT as its powertrain. We also know that the company does not intend to offer an all-wheel drive setup, at least not at launch, indicating a soft-roader approach.

Mitsubishi Motors crafted this all-new compact SUV to be elegant and robust. The upper part of the body expresses an ‘airy silkiness’ thanks to a floating roof and sleek surfaces. The lower part has the solid and powerful proportions of an SUV, characterized by muscular fender flares and high ground clearance. 18″ wheels are planned for the production model. The front features the Dynamic Shield face with LED daytime running lights, while the rear features T-shaped LED taillights.

To broaden this model’s approach, Mitsubishi Motors has worked together with the Yamaha Corporation in order to bring a new Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium sound system to this new compact SUV model. At the auto show, a special booth will be set up for visitors to experience this new sound system.

Mitsubishi

What’s most interesting to us is how quickly Mitsubisihi Motors intends to bring this car to market. This model seems to be based on the XFC Concept that was shown late last year. This is the production ready version, which has yet to be named. If all goes according to plan, then Indonesian customers can find these in showrooms by November of this year. The company plans to build these at the Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia plant in Bekasi, West Java.

Mitsubishi Motors’ showing at the 30th Gaikindo Auto Show will also feature a few other interesting vehicles, including the all-electric Minicab-MiEV commercial vehicle, which will go into production there soon.
