This new sedan from BYD can go up to 700 kilometers or 435 miles on a single charge, and it comes in different versions with various features.

This will a challenge to Tesla’s Model 3 and could also signal a price war in coming months. BYD has been launching more affordable electric cars lately, like the Dolphin Honor Edition and the Atto 3 SUV. This shows that BYD is really serious about offering electric cars that can compete with petrol powered cars.

It is clear that BYD management want to make electric cars more affordable and keep pushing for new ideas in the electric vehicle industry.

Engineered atop the avant-garde e-platform 3.0, this BYD is powered by two battery configurations: a 61.4 kWh or 82.5 kWh BYD Blade battery, delivering CLTC ranges of 550 km (342 miles) and 700 km (435 miles) respectively.

This showcases BYD’s leading-edge battery technology. The premier 4WD performance model, equipped with the 82.5 kWh battery, reaches a range of up to 650 km (404 miles), merging efficiency with robust performance.

Meanwhile, in February 2024, BYD in Malaysia launched the SEAL in two variants and the selling prices were from RM179,800 and RM199,800 respectively.

Though it is not like the lower-end RWD Premium is a slouch by any means as well, with 230 kW and 360 Nm of torque on hand still capable of dispensing the charge 0-100 km/h in a more-than-adequate 5.9 seconds.

In case you were wondering, the BYD Seal lands locally with a choice of four colours: Cosmos Black, Aurora White, Atlantis Grey and Arctic Blue, with the last exclusive to the Performance trim. Standard on all variants is nevertheless a rather substantial package of warranties, which includes a 6-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, an 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty, and an 8-year or 150,000 km drive unit warranty.
