Exterior Design Of The Year: Lotus Emeya (VOTY 2025)

The Lotus Emeya and it’s stunning silhouette masterfully translates the brand’s sporting heritage into an electric four-door GT.

The Lotus Emeya redefines automotive visual drama with a silhouette that simultaneously honors Lotus’s sporting heritage while boldly advancing into the electric age. This four-door GT manages an extraordinary feat—translating the brand’s lightweight ethos into a larger form factor without sacrificing its distinctive DNA.

The Emeya’s low-slung profile creates an immediate impression of performance potential, while active aerodynamic elements—including a deployable rear spoiler and intelligent air management systems—demonstrate how function and form can harmoniously coexist. The distinctive lighting signature, with its razor-thin daytime running lights and illuminated badge, creates an unmistakable presence on the road.

What particularly impressed our judges was the Emeya’s cohesive design language—every curve, vent, and surface treatment serves both aesthetic and functional purposes. The traditional Lotus visual cues have been thoughtfully reinterpreted rather than abandoned, creating continuity between the brand’s storied past and electric future.

In a market where many electric vehicles adopt increasingly homogeneous designs, the Emeya stands apart with genuine character and visual excitement that demands attention without resorting to gratuitous styling elements.

About The Allianz DSF VOTY Awards

The Allianz DSF.my Vehicle Of The Year (VOTY) Award ceremony is the first and only vehicle award event in Malaysia that does not hand out paid awards, nor does it charge winners or participating brands any fee whatsoever. Winners are allowed to use the VOTY event logo free of charge in all marketing materials. Event attendees are not even charged for their seat at the award presentation. All car manufacturers that operate in Malaysia are invited to participate free of charge. All they have to do is let our judges test drive their nominated vehicles.

All judging is independent and is put down to a vote before the winners are selected. Car manufacturers are not informed if they are winning or not before the event.

2025 marks a significant milestone for VOTY as Allianz celebrates its 16th year as the title sponsor of this prestigious automotive event. This year also commemorates Daniel Sherman Fernandez’s 25th year in the automotive industry, highlighting his longstanding contribution and commitment to automotive journalism in Malaysia. The judges for VOTY 2025 are Daniel Sherman Fernandez and Subhash Nair of dsf.my, Ross Hadi of gohedgostan.com and Joshua Chin of automacha.com.
