The 2025 Tesla Model 3 has now proven itself to be one of the safest cars in its class
The 2025 Tesla Model 3 has received a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, with the results officially announced on 21 May 2025. This top rating applies to all versions of the Model 3, including Rear-Wheel Drive, Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, Long Range All-Wheel Drive, and Performance All-Wheel Drive.

The electric sedan performed strongly across all key assessment areas, confirming its status as one of the safest vehicles in its class. In crash protection tests, the Model 3’s structure remained stable during the frontal offset crash. Dummies used in the test indicated a low risk of injury to key areas such as knees and legs for both the driver and front passenger.
Moreover, in side impact and pole crash tests, the Model 3 provided full protection for all critical body regions, earning maximum scores in these categories. For child safety, the vehicle delivered excellent protection in both frontal and side impact simulations. Additionally, the front passenger airbag can be deactivated to accommodate rear-facing child seats.

Meanwhile, the driver receives a clear notification when the airbag is turned off. Tesla has also made significant advancements in protecting pedestrians and other road users. The 2025 Model 3 includes an ‘Active Hood’ system, which automatically raises the hood upon impact with a pedestrian to create extra clearance above hard components, reducing the risk of serious injury.
The upgraded Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system now also uses advanced algorithms to better detect motorcycles. It also performs well in identifying pedestrians and cyclists, effectively intervening to avoid or reduce collision severity. Several new safety technologies are featured in this latest Model 3.

On top of that, these include faster-reacting head-on crash detection, enhanced emergency braking for crossing traffic, door exit warning when someone is detected in the blind spot, and a child presence detection system that activates the climate control and sends alerts if a child is left unattended inside.
Euro NCAP conducted a series of rigorous tests, including frontal offset crashes, full-width frontal impacts, side barrier and pole collisions, and whiplash tests. They also evaluated the car’s performance in protecting vulnerable road users through advanced driver assistance systems.

Among 16 vehicles tested in this round, seven received 5-star ratings, with the Model 3 earning its place among the safest. This recognition underscores Tesla’s ongoing commitment to safety innovation in its vehicles. So is the 2025 Model 3 finally safe enough to not have random failures and breakdowns like the models before it?
