All-New 2025 Toyota RAV4 Debuts With 100km EV Range & GR Trim

The 6th generation Toyota RAV4 debuts with a new gen PHEV system.

Toyota has unveiled the sixth-generation RAV4 for Europe, offering only plug-in and full hybrid powertrains as part of its carbon-neutral roadmap. Building on the model’s 30-year legacy and over 15 million global sales, the all-new 2025 RAV4 redefines SUV expectations with more tech, efficiency, and digital smarts than ever before. Will we get it here? As a reminder, Toyota Malaysia offered the 5th generation RAV4 briefly as a CBU model before pulling the plug in favour of the locally-assembled Corolla Cross and the fully-imported Harrier.

The star of the lineup is the next-generation plug-in hybrid system. Featuring a 22.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, it delivers up to 100 km of electric range (WLTP) and supports ultra-fast charging—DC charging up to 50 kW and an 11 kW AC charger that cuts charging time in half. With a total system output of 304 DIN hp (AWD), the RAV4 PHEV sprints from 0–100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds.

A new front-wheel-drive PHEV variant is also introduced, offering 268 DIN hp and making Toyota’s electrification push more accessible. The updated hybrid model sees improvements in motor response and efficiency, with AWD-i and FWD versions delivering 191 and 183 DIN hp respectively.

Inside, a fully redesigned cabin features a 12.9-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital cluster, both powered by Toyota’s new Arene software platform. This marks a major shift to software-defined vehicles, enabling over-the-air updates and advanced digital experiences. Enhanced voice controls, Google POIs, 3D navigation aids, and integration with the MyToyota app complete the high-tech cockpit.

Safety also takes a leap forward with the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite, now faster and smarter. New additions include Front Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Vehicle Approach Indicator, improved Lane Change Assist, and a smartphone-controlled Advanced Park feature.

Toyota RAV4 GR Sport

For those craving sporty flair, the GR SPORT variant returns with widened tracks, retuned suspension, exclusive 20-inch wheels, and signature GR styling cues inside and out—bringing Toyota’s motorsport DNA to everyday driving.

With geo-fencing to optimise EV mode in low-emission zones and Toyota’s expanding PHEV ecosystem, the 2025 RAV4 is positioned as a leader in practical electrification. Whether you seek performance, tech, or sustainability, this is the most advanced RAV4 yet.

Deliveries begin in Europe in 2025, with Toyota betting big on hybrid and plug-in power for its bestselling SUV.
