The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series takes open top luxury to a new dimension.
Mercedes-Maybach has introduced its fourth model, the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, marking the brand’s sportiest offering to date. The open-top two-seater combines dynamic performance with the luxury and craftsmanship emblematic of Maybach. It’s an interesting alternative to the AMG version of this vehicle, especially if you’d rather have something a little more comfortable while still maintaining the look and top-tier status of the latest SL model. The model is now available in Europe, with other markets to follow. Will this find a place in Malaysia? Very possible indeed.
Design and Customisation
The SL 680 Monogram Series features two curated design concepts: “White Ambience” (obsidian black metallic and opalite white magno) and “Red Ambience” (obsidian black metallic and garnet red metallic). Over 50 additional MANUFAKTUR paint colours are available, inspired by precious stones, natural phenomena, and historical Mercedes-Benz and Maybach hues.
The interior utilises sustainably tanned MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Nappa leather in crystal white, enhancing the floral-patterned seats, door panels, and centre console. Chrome accents and lowered seat side panels improve comfort and accessibility.
Innovative Exterior Features
The SL 680 introduces Maybach’s first A-shaped chrome radiator grille, illuminated branding, and rose gold headlight accents. A PixelPaint-processed bonnet (optional) integrates a Maybach pattern using an advanced inkjet-like technique, reducing waste and emissions. The rear includes Maybach-branded taillights, chrome trim, and a noise-optimised exhaust system.
Performance and Comfort
Powered by a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine (430 kW / 585 hp) and 9G-TRONIC transmission, the SL 680 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.
The 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, rear-axle steering, and semi-active hydraulic roll stabilisation ensure agility and comfort.
Acoustic insulation—including fleeces, aluminium butyl, and fibreglass muffler inlays—enhances cabin quietness. Four driving modes (Comfort, Maybach, Sport, Individual) tailor the experience.
