The Xpeng G9 SUV gets a big update in China.
Xpeng has been making waves in Malaysia and abroad, launching very high tech and high value-for-money EVs that cater to a wide customer base. In Malaysia, we only get the G6 and X9. However they have many other products on offer including the Mona M03, the P7 and the G9. The last of these just got updated for 2025 in China.

The Xpeng G9 was first shown in late 2021. It’s a large, all-electric SUV that was designed for sale in China and internationally. Now in 2025, we have a thoroughly updated version of the G9. The 2025 Xpeng G9 represents a significant evolution of the Chinese automaker’s flagship electric SUV, featuring 66 distinct upgrades. While maintaining its recognizable X Robot Face 3.0 design language, the new model introduces substantial improvements across technology, performance, and comfort features.

Dimensionally unchanged at 4891/1937/1680 mm with a 2998 mm wheelbase, the exterior receives practical enhancements including electric suction doors, an automatic tailgate, and stylish 20-inch five-spoke rims. For those seeking a more aggressive aesthetic, a new “black warrior” version offers blacked-out trim, logos, fenders, and wheels.

The most noteworthy advancement comes in the form of the next-generation Turing AI intelligent driving system, which abandons LiDAR in favor of a sophisticated sensor array consisting of 11 cameras, three millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars. This technology delivers 125% greater visual perception distance and 40% faster recognition speed than its predecessor, ensuring accurate identification of both static and dynamic obstacles.

Performance improvements are substantial across both RWD and AWD variants. The RWD model now produces 258 kW (346 hp), up from 230 kW, with 465 Nm of torque. The AWD version combines this with a 165 kW (221 hp) front motor, yielding impressive combined figures of 423 kW (567 hp) and 695 Nm of torque. Both versions benefit from a new 5C AI battery system and 800V high-voltage SiC platform with S5 liquid-cooling supercharging technology.

Battery capacity options include 79 kWh and 93.1 kWh packs, providing extended CLTC ranges of 625 km, 680 km, and 725 km—notable improvements over the 2024 model’s 570 km, 650 km, and 702 km figures.

The 2025 G9 retains its premium three-screen interior layout, featuring a 10.25-inch instrument panel and dual 14.96-inch displays powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295P chip. Interior color options now include Morning Glory Brown, Elegant Gray, and a new Moon Shadow Coffee. Advanced features like 5G connectivity, multi-screen linkage, cross-device application projection, and OTA updates round out the comprehensive technology package.

Pricing details remain undisclosed, though the 2024 model’s starting price of 263,900 yuan (approximately $36,400 USD) provides a reference point.
