The ROX Adamas is more than just a pretty looking 4×4 off roader
You probably have not heard of ROX automotive from China and this is because its sales in the Middle East and some parts of Africa is booming right now and the company is not concentrating on developing a ‘right hand drive’ version for the ASEAN market.
Well, at last weeks show, we were informed by the product people at ROX, that enquiries from ASEAN have started trickling in and ROX management will be looking into developing a right hand drive version very soon.

Looking very much like a rival to the popular Land Rover Defender and Jeep Cherokee, this burly looking SUV follows the lines of the TANK 300 and Jetour T2.
For Guangzhou, it was the ROX Adamas that took the most attention. The ROX Adamas features a powerful and efficient hybrid powertrain with a 1.5L turbocharged engine and dual electric motors, delivering 469 hp and 740 Nm of torque, along with a long total range of 1,226 km.
The luxury cabin is highlighted by premium Nappa leather, multiple large digital screens 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 15.7-inch infotainment screen), and advanced comfort features like heated, ventilated, and massaging seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 3-zone climate control system.
The ROX Adamas cabin entertainment features include a dual 15.7-inch 3K front entertainment screen with navigation, gaming, and music capabilities, plus a 15.6-inch rear entertainment screen that supports wired and wireless screen mirroring. For rear passengers, there is also an OPTIONAL ceiling-mounted 15.7-inch entertainment screen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 cockpit CPU.
Additional features include a 14-speaker sound system, wireless charging, multiple USB charging ports throughout the cabin, and an intelligent ecosystem with modes for camping and sentry duty.
ROX Adamas safety features include a suite of active safety systems like Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Adaptive Cruise Control, along with a high-strength steel and aluminum body structure for passive protection. Additional features include multiple airbags (up to 10 in some configurations), an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), and 360-degree camera with parking sensors.
Now, in case you were wondering. ROX Motor is backed by a consortium of major Chinese companies, including Tencent Holdings, IDG Capital, and its parent company’s key investor Xiaomi.
Major Companies Backing ROX Include:
Tencent Holdings: The Chinese tech giant made a major investment in ROX Motor in February 2023.
IDG Capital: A significant investment firm that invested alongside Tencent.
Xiaomi: While not a direct primary investor in ROX Motor itself, Xiaomi is the major investor of Roborock, the successful vacuum cleaner company founded by Chang Jing, who is also the founder and CEO of ROX Motor.
Weiqiao Pioneering Group: A Fortune 500 company that also supports the automaker.
Beijing Automobile Works Co., Ltd. (BAW): ROX has production and assembly cooperation with BAW.
Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO): ADIO has formed a strategic partnership with ROX Motor to accelerate localization and innovation in the Middle East region, which includes establishing a regional headquarters and potentially local production facilities in Abu Dhabi.
W Motors: The Dubai-based hypercar manufacturer has a deal with ROX Motor to produce NEVs in Abu Dhabi, further solidifying its regional ties.
