Just a few days ago, in December 2025, the Maextro S800 which is a luxury sedan co-developed by Huawei (providing software, sales network, and brand power) and JAC Group has officially overtaken the Porsche Panamera and BMW i7 to become the top-selling vehicle in China’s ultra-luxury segment (cars priced above USD100,000).
In November 2025, the Maextro S800 delivered 2,145 units, more than the combined sales of the Porsche Panamera (1,200 units) and the BMW 7 Series (928 units). With a 3 month sales lead in China this Maextro S800 managed to maintain its position as the number 1 selling car in the USD100,000+ price bracket for three consecutive months since September 2025.

This shift is significant as it marks the first time a domestic Chinese brand has gained a dominant foothold in the ultra-luxury market, traditionally controlled by German brands like Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Bentley, Jaguar and BMW.

The Huawei-backed Maextro S800 is a high-technology, luxury electric sedan co-developed with JAC (Jianghuai Automobile Group) which is a long standing truck and bus manufacturer in China. This success is a major win for Chinese brands, proving domestic innovation can compete directly with established European luxury vehicle giants in the high-end segment.
