Perodua Myvi Slams Into 5 Vehicles When Driver Falls Asleep

Another tragic accident yesterday when a Perodua Myvi driver takes a nap

One person was killed and four others were injured after a Perodua Myvi skidded off the road at the Padang Jambu traffic light junction before crashing into five other vehicles on the opposite lane on Tuesday.

A 41-second dashboard video of the incident went viral on social media, showing the Perodua Myvi being driven in a wobbly state before crashing into the vehicle.

In the incident at around 2pm, the accident involved six vehicles which happened to be three Honda EX5 motorcycles, a Suzuki Raider R150 bike and also a Yamaha Y15ZR bike, as well as three cars, which was a Proton Saga, a BMW X3 and a Perodua Myvi.

Three other victims suffered injuries to their legs and arms, while the driver of the Perodua Myvi suffered abrasions to his elbow.

“The victim’s body has been sent to the Forensic Department of the Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

He said urine and breath tests on the 35-year-old Perodua Myvi driver were found to be negative for the influence of drugs and alcohol.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and further investigations are still ongoing.

It is understood that the Perodua Myvi driver is expected to be brought to the Ayer Keroh Court for a remand application on Wednesday.
