Chevrolet Aveo Starts Production in Korea for ASEAN market

GM Korea today celebrated the production of the first all-new Chevrolet Aveo at its Bupyeong #1 plant in Incheon. Sales of the new vehicle will start next month and there will be a global roll-out in the following months. The all-new Aveo will contribute to drive Chevrolet’s sales growth in 2011 and should see brisk sales in Malaysia in the competitive compact car segment. As GM’s global base for de development of mini and small car architectures, the company led the design and engineering of the new model. With the production of the new Aveo, the utilization rate of the Bupyeong plant will rise sharply.  It will join the company’s plants in Gunsan, Changwon and Boryeong in operating at full capacity. The all-new Aveo’s aggressive, youthful design is supported by its strong performance and agile ride and handling. Two body styles are being offered: a stylish four-door sedan and a sporty five-door hatchback. Each delivers class-leading rear-seat roominess. The all-new Aveo is longer and wider than its predecessor, giving it a spacious interior and cargo volume that are among the best in class. Its motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster features an analog tachometer along with a digital speedometer and warning lights. The center console features upmarket blue backlighting that highlights the front cabin’s wrap-around fascia, which can be color-coordinated and flows from the dash into both the driver’s and front passenger’s doors. Reflecting its sporty personality, the all-new Aveo has been engineered to provide superb handling. This is courtesy of its tight body frame integral (BFI) structure, which has torsional rigidity that is among the stiffest in the small car segment. A comprehensive range of economical four-cylinder gasoline will be available. The engines incorporate advanced technology such as variable valve timing and double continuous variable cam phasing. GM Korea announced recently the change of new company name from GM Daewoo to GM Korea and Chevrolet launch in Korea, will launch eight products in Korean market this year starting with Chevrolet Orlando (pictured above) this week which is slated for a possible July/August launch in Malaysia by Naza Quest.
