Ford Launches New Mondeo with EcoBoost Engine
Ford’s first vehicle in Malaysia featuring the technologically-advanced EcoBoost engine that helps deliver exceptional performance and fuel efficiency has been launched. As part of Ford’s large car range, the Mondeo with EcoBoost is imported from Europe, where it is one of the best selling large sedans and renowned for its quality and premium appeal.
Smart Performance
The Mondeo’s EcoBoost powertrain technology delivers outstanding performance that provides up to 20 percent more power and up to a 15 percent reduction in CO2 emissions, consistent with larger displacement, naturally aspirated engines. It has an advanced combustion system that achieves significantly higher levels of performance and fuel efficiency in comparison with other petrol engines in this power range.

Filipe, Chief Engineer of Engine Programs, Ford of Europe. Mr. Filipe led the Engineering Team at Ford of Europe that developed Ford’s EcoBoost powertrains, and traveled to Malaysia this week to support the Mondeo launch.
Lightweight all-aluminium construction is the key to the new 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost engine, delivering a maximum power output of 203 Ps and 300 Nm torque. The EcoBoost engine features the latest-generation high-pressure direct injection, low-inertia turbocharging and twin independent variable camshaft timing.
The new Mondeo also features Ford’s dual clutch PowerShift automatic transmission that delivers seamless gear changes while delivering up to a 10 percent improvement in fuel efficiency and reduction in CO2 levels to those normally associated with a manual transmission.
Mondeo Design
The new Mondeo EcoBoost, in Titanium grade, is set to build on the model’s established reputation as a stylish and great-to-drive vehicle offering the ultimate experience in driving enjoyment and comfort. The kinetic design of the refreshed Mondeo is both energetic and sharp, with an overall premium appearance. Its bolder presence on the road is achieved with the new upper and lower chrome grills fitted at the front of the vehicle, along with the New LED daytime running lights that have enhanced driver visibility.
Sophisticated Design
High quality craftsmanship is testament to its sophisticated technologies. The interior refinement combined with powertrain, wind and road noise reduction features guarantee a quiet and relaxing drive. The rear air-conditioning on B-pillar adds extra comfort and coolness essential for hot climates. The latest interior smart technologies featured in the Mondeo include a ‘Human Machine Interface’ that improves functionality through easy to use steering wheel mounted control switches that allow remote use of the audio system.
A connectivity pack offers Bluetooth® voice command with voice recognition software that enables mobile phones to be used safely whilst driving and gives full control of digital music players through the sound system.
State-of-the-Art Safety Features
The Ford Mondeo, which earned a five-star rating for adult occupant protection by Euro NCAP safety testing, provides a number of class-leading passive and active safety features. This includes a complete package of seven airbags encompassing the front, knee, side and curtain safety measures for maximum protection. The Mondeo’s powerful braking system is complemented by standard Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Traction Control System (TCS).
Pricing for the Ford Mondeo 2.0L with EcoBoost is estimated to be between RM180,000.00 to RM185,000.00 (On-the-road with insurance, private registration for Peninsular Malaysia). All Ford Mondeo comes with a three-year warranty and three-year free service maintenance package (or 60,000km whichever comes first).
Available in all authorized Ford showrooms from August 2011.
