Gunaseelan Scores Another Win For Pennzoil GSR
It was a proud achievement for the Pennzoil GSR Racing Team in Noumea last weekend, as they retained the A6 Class category win, which they also won in Round 1 and 2 of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) in Johor and Queensland respectively. Despite the extremely hot and desert like conditions, the team had a successful run and an eventful weekend battling and ultimately emerging 10th overall, out of 35 cars participating for Round 3 of the APRC in New Caledonia including against 20 international drivers.
“It was a great race. The car ran well and despite the tough competition, we were able to complete the race victoriously and collect valuable points under the 2 WD class” said team driver and owner Gunaseelan Rajoo.
Pennzoil GSR Racing Team is currently in 2nd place under the 2WD category, trailing by a mere one point behind fellow Malaysian and former multiple Asia Pacific Rally Champion Karamjit Singh at 78 points while Akira Bamba is in 3rd place with 68 points. The next round of the APRC will be held in New Zealand from July 15–17 and it will be an interesting battle for the 2WD class, as all top 3 drivers are neck and neck and will be challenging to keep their hope for the championship Title alive. Gunaseelan Rajoo thanked the team’s sponsors UMW PENNZOIL MALAYSIA, AIR ASIA, YOKOHAMA TYRES, AND CUSCO for their collaboration with the team in the Championship.
