Luminox SR-71 Blackbird Limited Edition Valjoux Automatic

Luminox SR-71 Blackbird Limited Edition Valjoux Automatic (9080 Series) 2

Luminox announces the return of the successful SR-71 Blackbird Limited Edition Valjoux Automatic. This model features a deep Midnight Green enamel dialand re-designed crowns and pushers with a pyramid surface for aesthetic appeal and ease of manipulation.

Created with input from Lockheed Martin test pilots, the SR-71 features the famous Valjoux 7750 Automatic Chronograph movement renowned for its quality and reliability, with the added advantage of Luminox Light Technology. Only 300 will be made worldwide.

The Luminox SR-71 BLACKBIRD series is the crown jewel of Luminox’s proprietary collaboration with Lockheed Martin, the world’s largest defense contractor, and maker of some of the most accomplished jets in aviation history. The series celebrates the US Air Force’s groundbreaking and record-setting SR-71 Blackbird. The black PVD-plated stainless steel watch case and black steel bracelet both evoke the look and spirit of the legendary black reconnaissance jet, in a design that harkens back to the early 1960s.

The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters and features the Luminox Light Technology system of self-powered micro gas tubes, mounted on the hands and markers of the watches, which glow continuously for up to 25 years, so that the dial can always be read, even in low light or complete darkness.

Luminox launched its first SR-71 series in 2005 as a tribute to the legendary SR-71 Blackbird aircraft, an aeronautical triumph of the 1960s. The SR-71 was a groundbreaking supersonic strategic reconnaissance jet, capable of Mach 3.2. It set numerous altitude and speed records that remain unsurpassed, even today more than 50 years later! Lockheed’s SR-71 flew U.S. Air Force and NASA missions between 1966 and 1998, when it was permanently retired. Because of its innovative titanium composite skin (the first used in aviation), and its black color, it was nicknamed “Blackbird.”
