Volkswagen Golf R Wins 2015 Driver’s Car of the Year Award
The Volkswagen Golf R bagged the award for “Driver’s Car of the Year” last night at the inaugural 2015 ASEAN Car of the Year (ACOTY) award in Kuala Lumpur yesterday evening. The judging is based on five key criteria – price, safety, performance, quality and ownership experience.
The Golf R is more powerful and faster than ever with an advanced third generation 2.0L TSi engine with 280ps and 380Nm and takes 5 seconds from 0 – 100. It also comes with a Stop/Start system and regenerative braking which translates to 18% more fuel efficiency. The Golf R is packed with world class features such as Dynamic Chassis Control with 5 driving modes and Multi Collision Brakes to name a few.
Volkswagen was also nominated in other categories such as the “Family MPV of the Year” with the Cross Touran, “Premium MPV of the Year” with the Sharan and also “Coupe of the Year” with the Scirocco.
The ACOTY Award is an automotive industry award programme formed exclusively to reward outstanding vehicles in the ASEAN region and is honored by a non-profit community of motoring journalist from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia as well as industry experts from the ASEAN region.
