Perodua Brings CNY Cheer to Patients, Contributes Medical Equipment to Hospitals

While the nation ushered in the Year of the Dog happily with family and friends at home, Perodua is sparing a thought or two for all who had to spend the festive season in the hospital.

The country’s top-selling carmaker recently paid a visit to Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital to spread Chinese New Year cheer to over 70 patients in the form of hampers, angpows, mandarin oranges and other gifts.

“Our hearts go out to those who had to spend this Chinese New Year in the wards; in unfamiliar surroundings. If you couldn’t enjoy Chinese New Year at home, we’re bringing the rousing spirit and festive atmosphere to you!” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh said. He managed to exchange a few pleasantries and wishes of good fortune with most of the patients.

Perodua also contributed two electrocardiograph (ECG) machines worth RM6,000 each to Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital.

“We hope our humble contribution will go some way towards helping Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital and its dedicated staff in treating their patients,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar said. Perodua will also be going to Selayang Hospital this Friday, donating three ambu bags (handheld device to assist those with breathing difficulties) worth RM600 each to the hospital and distributing hampers to 60 paediatric ward patients.

But that’s not all – Perodua has committed to a sustainable charity programme with Selayang Hospital’s paediatric ward, starting this year and ending in 2020.

“We have planned lots of activities with the children throughout these three years, including story-telling, puppet and clown performances, colouring and sing-alongs. Our volunteers will also help to maintain and improve the children’s play area by buying more toys and books as well as decorating and cleaning it,” said Datuk (Dr) Aminar.

“At Perodua, people are at the heart of everything we do. These programmes align closely with our Corporate Responsibility pillars of Education, Enabling Community and Environment. Through them, we hope to reach out, improve the lives of our community and put smiles on as many faces as we possibly can. We wish all our Chinese friends a wonderful Chap Goh Meh and a great year ahead
filled to the brim with health, happiness and success!” he added.
