Honda CBR650R and CB650R Launched

Cars aside, the recently concluded Malaysia Autoshow 2019 also saw the launch of the new Honda CBR650R and CB650R motorcycles.

According to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Boon Siew Honda Sdn. Bhd, Keiichi Yasuda, the middleweight segment in Malaysia has been positive, hence Boon Siew Honda’s decision to introduce the pair.

“In 2018, Boon Siew Honda had successfully launched a total of 7 units of high performance big bikes in Malaysia and we are happy to have received an overwhelming response from the market. And, we shall also look into the middleweight segment demand from the market as well. Therefore, today we launch the all-new CBR650R and all-new CB650R,” said Yasuda.

CBR650R (RM45,499)

The CBR650R is inspired by the CBR1000RR Fireblade with its sharp, aggressive lines and extended side fairings, plus super-short rear section and narrow dual LED headlights.

It is 6 kg lighter than the CBR650F (which it replaces) and has a sportier riding position thanks to the repositioning of the handlebars 30 mm forward. The footpegs have also been moved both rearward and higher.

The bike is powered by a 649 cc, inline four-cylinder engine that makes 93.8 hp at 12,000 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. The mill revs 1,000 rpm higher to produce 5% more top end power.

Other standard equipment include adjustable 41 mm Showa Separate Fork Function (SFF), upside-down forks, radial-mount four-piston front brake calipers, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and assist/slipper clutch.

Colour options for the CBR650R come in the form of Grand Prix Red and Matte Gun Powder Black Metallic.

CB650R (RM43,499)

Having introduced the naked CB1000R and CB250R last year, Boon Siew Honda now brings its unique ‘Neo Sports Café’ look to the middleweight segment through the all-new CB650R.

The styling language is modern and minimalist, and infused with inspirations from a café racer such as the signature round headlight and sculpted fuel tank.

The bike has the same specifications as that of the CBR650R, and this includes the 649 cc, inline four-cylinder engine with 93.8 hp and 64 Nm, the suspension, the brakes as well as the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and assist/slipper clutch.

There are two colour options for the CB650R, namely Candy Chromosphere Red and Graphite Black.
