Honda, Mazda, Isuzu, Suzuki, Subaru, Daihatsu Join Toyota’s e-Mobility Solution

Back in March, Toyota and SoftBank corp, started MONET Technologies. This company is aimed at the following services:

  • 1) on-demand mobility services
  • 2) data-analysis services
  • 3) Autono-MaaS

What started off an essentially a platform for Toyota to more rapidly develop future autonomous driving and e-mobility capabilities has today expanded to include many of Japans automakers.

The announcement today saw Hino (Toyota’s Commercial Vehicle division) and Honda taking 10% stakes in MONEY technologies, with Isuzu, Suzuki, Subaru, Daihatsu and Mazda each taking up about 2% stakes in the company as well.

It’s worth noting that Nissan and Mistubishi are completely absent from the list, perhaps due to the existing technologies being developed for the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.

Junichi Miyakawa, President and CEO of MONET Technologies Inc. commented on the partnerships as follows:

Suzuki would like to contribute to MONET’s creation of new value with transportation, using its diverse array of transportation modes, including motorcycles, marine products and electric wheelchairs, in addition to automobiles.”

Tomomi Nakamura, President and CEO, Representative Director of the Board, Subaru Corporation, commented as follows:

Soichiro Okudaira, President of Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., commented as follows:
