Approved Permit’s and their ‘Kings’ to remain

No change for now and in the long term.

The Deputy Minister from the Ministry Of International Trade & Industry (MITI) Dr. Ong Kian Ming has confirmed with some reservation in his voice the continuation of the Approved Permit (AP) system in Malaysia

He spoke in length on this at a recent automotive conference about how the number of AP’s issued in 2019 has been less than in 2018 and the Ministry is working diligently to check on the new 36 AP holders and also the old AP kings on their business model. If they are found to be selling their AP’s they will be dealt with.

He explained that his Ministry has also found a new AP holder not complying with the guidelines and a warning has been issued. MITI officers are constantly doing spot checks on the 36 new AP holders and they will continue their enforcement to ensure there is no abuse of the system.
