Honda Malaysia should launch this plug-in hybrid to rival the 3rd national car

The Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid is a forward-thinking design that provides you with the benefits of an electric car and the flexibility of a hybrid. A high-capacity battery gives you longer all-electric driving while still providing a traditional petrol-powered engine to use for backup.

Many day trips can be made on the battery alone and when you’re ready for a charge up, simply plug into your electric outlets at home, work, or any of the hundreds of stations across the country.

Or if you’re looking for a quick charge, the HV mode allows you to use the petrol engine and one of the electric motors to assist in recharging the battery while you’re in cruise mode.

The spacious five seated cabin area is made from eco-conscious materials such as plant-derived bio-fabrics and Ultrasuede which is created through recycling technology. Comfort is key when it comes to the Clarity. With the dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and HondaLink climate pre-conditioning, you’re sure to drive through any weather feeling comfortable and secure. The full driver interface allows you to easily check in on your battery-charging status while the automatic-dimming rearview mirror adjusts to soften the reflection of headlights giving you a clear view of the road.

The Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid has a larger cargo space than many of its competitors making sure you have plenty of room to store all your gear. When on the road, place your items in the convenient cargo net to make sure your belongings stay exactly where you placed them. The 60/40 split-folding rear seats offer versatility when packing and the latest smart storage offers generous console space and unique smartphone pockets so you never have to wonder where you left your phone.

The Clarity Plug-In Hybrid comes loaded with the latest technology and safety features to make your drive easy and stress-free. The HondaLink app lets you estimate your driving range while also checking in on your battery charge. And so you never have to bother digging around for your keys, our Smart Entry with Walk Away Auto Lock lets you unlock and lock your car doors without ever needing to take your key out of your purse or pocket. Other exciting features include:

  • Apple CarPlay
  • Android Auto Integration
  • Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System
  • HD Radio
  • Multi-angle Rearview Camera
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System
  • Road Departure Mitigation System
  • Honda LaneWatch
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane Keeping Assist System

Thanks to its overall driving range of 340 miles (including those 47 in electric-only mode), the Honda Clarity can serve as your one and only car. That’s simply not the case with many electric vehicles, which have more limited range and need lots of time to recharge.

Honda Clarity is geared toward consumers who desire a spacious, comfortable and affordable sedan that suits their daily driving needs.

For longer trips, the Clarity Plug-in Hybrid can utilize its hyper-efficient 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder engine to generate electricity and, under certain conditions, to act as a direct power source, resulting in an anticipated overall driving range rating of 340 miles.

The vehicle’s electromotive power comes from a 181-horsepower electric motor producing 232 lb.-ft. of torque and drawing power from both the petrol engine and a 17-kilowatt hour (kWh) battery pack with a recharge time of 2.5 hours at 240 volts.

The Clarity Plug-in Hybrid is anticipated to earn an EPA fuel economy rating of 105 MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent) combined, at the top of its class.

The Clarity Plug-in Hybrid features three selectable modes – Normal, Econ and Sport – allowing drivers to customize their experience, maximizing efficiency or driving performance.

A fourth mode – HV mode – is provided to maintain the battery’s state of charge and can be selected in conjunction with Normal, Econ and Sport driving modes.
