MINI JCW Countryman and JCW Clubman Arrive in Malaysia with 306 HP
Besides the facelifted Clubman, MINI Malaysia also took the opportunity to launch two new John Cooper Work (JCW) models, the JCW Clubman 306HP and the JCW Countryman 306HP.
As suggested by the names, both models now boast 306 hp at 5,000 – 6,250 rpm and a peak torque of 450 Nm at 1,750 – 4,500 rpm. This healthy output is provided by a newly developed 2.0-liter four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine that features a modification in the crankshaft drive.
Additionally, the compression ratio of the new engine has been reduced from 10.2 to 9.5 while the turbocharger integrated in the exhaust manifold is fitted with a blow-off valve. The air intake duct has also been redeveloped and dethrottled as far as possible.
Equipped with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission and the ALL4 all-wheel drive system, the JCW Clubman 306HP completes the century sprint in 4.9 seconds, while the JCW Countryman 306HP in 5.1 seconds. Both models have a top speed limited to 250 km/h.
The gears can also be shifted manually with the paddle shifters. When switched to GREEN on the MINI Driving Mode, coasting function can be activated as soon as the driver’s foot is off the accelerator at speeds between 50 – 160 km/h.
Braking is enabled via a redesigned sport brake system that now contains 360mm discs at the front and 330mm discs with four-piston, fixed-calliper at the rear.
Suspension is offered via a JCW sport suspension that is 10 mm lower than standard. Specifically, the JCW Countryman 306HP is equipped with Adaptive Suspension that allows adjustment to both compression and rebound.
As for appearance, the JCW Countryman 306HP now features a new bumper trim panel with open air intakes on both sides for efficient cooling of the engine. It is also fitted with bigger tailpipes of 85 mm in diameter.
The JCW Clubman 306HP, on the other hand, arrives with a completely redesigned appearance from its predecessor. It features a modified fron bumper, along with a larger splitter on the front spoiler and a new insert in the lower grille.
It also comes with the new LED headlights with Matrix Light Functionality and LED tail lights with Jack Union graphics. On the revised rear bumper is a newly developed JCW-specific exhaust system with 95 mm tailpipes.
Both the JCW Clubman and JCW Countryman 306HP variants are fitted with the exclusive 19-inch JCW Circuit Spoke Two-Tone wheels. Exterior colour offerings for the former include the Rebel Green, White Silver, Midnight Black and Chili Red, while offerings for latter include Rebel Green, Light White, Midnight Black and Chili Red.
Inside, you’ll find sporty racing seats upholstered in Carbon Black Dinamica leather, along with a host of JCW-branded items such as the steering wheel, instrument cluster, centre display trim, start screen and door sills.
They also feature stainless-steel pedals, MINI Yours Interior Cockpit Surface in Piano Black that illuminates at night in 12 different colours and a panoramic sunroof.
Other standard equipment includes a head-up display, 8.8-inch Touch Screen Navigation System with a split-screen function, MINI Connected and Harman Kardon audio system.
Both models arrive with the MINI 4 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty with Free Scheduled Service. They are also covered by MINI Malaysia’s 5 Years Roadside Assistance programme.
The retail prices (on the road for personal registration, without insurance) start from RM358,888 for the JCW Clubman 306HP and RM378,888 for the JCW Countryman 306HP.
