Toyota Sienta No Longer in Malaysian Showrooms?

We honestly liked the Toyota Sienta. Even though it was just a compact MPV with a small displacement motor, it had a lot of design quirks, twin sliding doors, stability control and a certain charm to the way it was put together.

And because it still had the low floor and high ceiling of a traditional MPV design, it made getting in and out of it easy for elders and younger folk.

Which is why it’s a bit of a shame that UMW Toyota no longer offers it on its site and presumably has taken it ‘off the shelf’ at their showrooms. We are not sure when this happened, but we first noticed its absence in late September 2019, when we compiled their car price list.

Our first assumption was that the facelifted model would be introduced in a few weeks, as Thailand had received it in August. But it’s now late December and there’s still no sign of that quirky little people mover.

Even on the car subscription service, Flux, their two older units of the Toyota Sienta have been subscribed to already.

I still believe the facelift model is on the way, perhaps for an early 2020 launch. On the off chance that it is being pulled from the Malaysian market, well, I think I’m not alone when I say I already miss it.
