Niutron NV Electric SUV Launched In China From USD39,100

This bold SUV is the first EV from the brand Niutron

The new kid on the block, Niutron, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker founded late last year and based in Beijing has just launched their first car, the Niutron NV. This oddly eye-catching 5-seater SUV was launched on 8 October 2022 and is priced between RMB278,800 to RMB318,800 (USD39,100 to USD44,800).

The Niutron NV comes in both fully electric and plug-in hybrid options and Niutron is a new premium NEV brand founded by former CTO of Baidu, Yan Li. At first glance, one may say that the front fascia of the car resembles a certain British Premium SUV but the more I look at it, the more it looks like an owl with huge eyes.

Moreover, the Niutron NV has the size to match the aforementioned British SUV coming in at 4,915mm in length, 1,962mm in width and 1,745mm in height, as well as a 2,910mm wheelbase. Don’t let the pictures fool you, this SUV is massive.

On top of that, the exterior design of the Niutron NV reflects the premium nature of the brand featuring hidden door handles, a notable trend in China at the moment, a floating roof design, large chunky wing mirrors and those trademark retro headlights dubbed “Dual Track Ring Lights” which demand attention on the road.

Additionally, the Niutron NV comes as standard with 24 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) functions including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane centering control, lane change assist, blind spot monitoring and automatic parking. This clearly puts the car leagues ahead especially for families.

The interior of the Niutron NV is equally as luxurious and premium as the exterior featuring a tablet styled 15.6 inch vertical central infotainment display, along with a simple and minimalistic flat-bottom steering wheel which I really like as too many buttons on the steering wheel make me anxious, and digital driver display.

The interior is spacious and features many modern amenities like a wireless phone charger and with the glove box removed, the front passenger seat leg rest of the Niutron NV can be fully extended with the backrest folded to a167° angle to enjoy the full VIP experience.

The Niutron NV comes as standard with a dual motor all-wheel-drive system with the hybrid version running a 1.5 litre turbo engine producing 270kW combined power and 526Nm of peak torque while the fully electric version puts out 280kW maximum power and 452Nm of torque. All versions complete the century sprint in 5.9 seconds.
