Ford Ranger Now Gets Single Cab XL Variant Too

This is the newest addition to the Ford Ranger lineup

Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC), the sole distributor of Ford in Malaysia, has just announced the newest addition to the next-generation Ford Ranger lineup with the all new 2.0 litre XL 4X4 single cab manual transmission variant. This is a new durable, reliable and trusted work partner for customers who want something more tough.

Just how much will it cost customers to go tough? This all new Ranger costs RM98,888 on-the-road without insurance or tax for Peninsular Malaysia and RM104, 388 on-the-road without insurance or tax for East Malaysia. One glaring difference between this XL version and the other versions of the pick up is the manual gearbox.

Powering the Ford Ranger XL single cab is a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine that makes 170Ps and 405Nm of torque. This powertrain is paired to a new six-speed manual transmission that was developed for four years to ensure smoother gear shifts with its new set of gears.

Turse Zuhair, Managing Director, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford, said, “While customers are increasingly choosing the Ranger for lifestyle reasons, we are mindful that there is a significant segment procuring it solely for its utilitarian purpose as a tough workhorse.”

“With the addition of this XL Single Cab to our next-generation Ranger line-up, customers have a basic entry-level pickup that they can trust to get the job done and done well.” He added.

Moreover, just like the entire line up of the next-generation Ford Ranger, this new XL single cab variant also benefits from increased proportions and a longer wheelbase which give all of them better stability on and off road. This unique variant also enjoys the largest single cargo bed on any pick-up truck currently on the market.

On top of that, in spite of the fact that this XL single cab variant is a base variant, the truck still comes with a high level of integrated technology, also a feature it shares with the rest of the next-generation Ranger lineup.

Despite leaning heavily towards the workhorse side of things, the new Ford Ranger XL single cab variant also comes with many of the toys it’s more lifestyle brothers sport, including the gargantuan 10.1 inch vertical central infotainment display complete with voice activation, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto too.

Of course, the new Ford Ranger XL single cab variant also comes with all the necessary safety features like an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control with traction control, hill descent control, hill launch assist, rollover mitigation, and trailer sway control so it is very safe.

What do you guys think about the new Ford Ranger XL Single Cab variant? I think it is just perfect for both work and lifestyle use but what say you?
