Renault Megane R.S. Ultime Is The Final Renault Sport Vehicle Ever

The final Renault Sport vehicle ever – the Renault Megane R.S. Ultime.

Last month, Renault Sport revealed their final production vehicle ever – the Renault Megane R.S. Ultime. This is essentially an upgraded version of the same Megane R.S. that debuted back in 2018. Renault Sport has been around since 1976, hence only 1,976 units of this final performance Megane will be made. Going forward, the Alpine brand will carry all future Renault Group performance products.

What’s New With The Renault Megane R.S. Ultime

Exterior

On the outside, there are new decals that feature the double diamond of Renault Sport and the brand’s new logo. Matt black stripes are placed on the roof and bonnet, rear bumper, doors and fenders. The stripe colour remains unchanged whether you get the Megane R.S. Ultime in Sirus Yellow, Tonic Orange, Pearl White or Star Black.

They’ve also changed some bodywork on this model. The Ultime’s front fenders are 60mm wider and the rear fenders are 45mm wider. They’ve fitted this limited edition model as standard with side air vents, R.S. Vision headlamps, a central exhaust, a shark fin antenna and a rear diffuser.

What’s more, there’s black finishing on the logos, door handles, window frames, wheels, wheel nut covers, fender caps, and rear diffuser. What’s more, the front bumper Formula 1 blade comes with a glossy finish and Ultime monogram with a gradient effect to add to the vibrant feel.

Inside

The Megane R.S. Ultime gets Recaro bucket seats with black Alcantara upholstery and an embroidered R.S. monogram.

The hands-free key card has been decorated with the same diamond pattern found on the stripes outside the car. Door sills feature serialised numbering, so they’re all unique in a sense.

There’s also a numbered metal plate near the transmission at the bottom of the console signed by Laurent Hurgon – the driver and development expert who worked on the Megane R.S.

Renault are giving the Megane a proper send off with the Ultime by fitting as much standard equipment on it as possible. The 9.3″ infotainment system, the Bose Hi-Fi system, a 10″ digital instrument cluster, R.S. Monitor On-Board Telemetry, adaptive cruise control, 360-degree maneuvering aids are all fitted here without additional cost. Owners can opt to pay for a heads-up display and sunroof on the left-hand drive models. There’s also a custom-designed car cover on offer.

Performance

The Megane R.S. Ultime takes its performance from the R.S. Trophy R model, meaning its 1.8L turbocharged 4-cylinder is set to output 300bhp and 420Nm of torque. In Europe, the EDC gearbox is the only option and it gets a Torsen mechanical differential. 0-100km/h is done in just 5.7 seconds.

Bridgestone Potenza S007 semi-slick tyres made especially for the Trophy R model are fitted here as well. They wrap around Fuji Light 19″ wheels. Stopping power comes from Brembo dual-cast brakes with red calipers. The vehicle features a lowered ‘Cup’ chassis with hydraulic compression stops and 4CONTROL 4-wheel steering.

BHP

“Megane R.S. represents 15 years of my work at Renault Sport. Since the Megane II phase 2, we have constantly improved its dynamic performance in order to remain the leader in front-wheel-drive sports cars. The records on the Nürburgring Nordschleife are unforgettable challenges, full of passion, adrenalin and emotion. And now, Megane R.S. Ultime… I am particularly proud to sign the version crowning this wonderful saga.”

Laurent Hurgon, driver and development expert at Renault Group.
