Great Wall Motor (GWM), a renowned global intelligent technology company, has announced the appointment of Mr. Clyde Cheng as the new President of Great Wall Motor ASEAN. Under Mr. Cheng’s leadership, GWM has achieved remarkable growth, particularly in the thriving Russian market, solidifying its position as one of the company’s most successful global operations.
This significant appointment heralds an exciting new chapter for GWM in the ASEAN region, as Mr. Cheng’s strategic vision and unparalleled expertise are poised to drive the company toward even greater accomplishments in the future. Driving GWM’s Expansion in ASEAN
With enthusiasm and honor, Mr. Clyde Cheng expressed his excitement about joining Great Wall Motor ASEAN. The appointment comes at a crucial time as GWM strengthens its position in the electric vehicle (xEV) market and expands its presence in the ASEAN region through its ambitious 6+3 ASEAN plan.
The company’s goal is to establish a solid presence in two additional countries—Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia—alongside its existing markets, which include Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia, Brunei, and the Philippines. Working alongside the talented team at GWM, Mr. Cheng aims to leverage innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction to elevate the brand to new heights and provide exceptional products and experiences to valued customers.
Mr. Cheng’s Vast Experience
Mr. Clyde Cheng brings a wealth of experience in the automotive industry to his new role as President of Great Wall Motor ASEAN. Joining GWM in 2002, he has held various executive positions throughout his tenure.
In 2019, Mr. Cheng assumed the role of Vice General Manager and Vice President at Haval Russian company, where he spearheaded marketing and sales efforts, achieving remarkable success in the Russian market and establishing it as one of GWM’s most prosperous overseas markets. In February 2023, Mr. Cheng returned to the headquarters and took on the position of Assistant to the Chief Growth Officer (CGO), playing a pivotal role in advancing the group’s marketing direction at a regional level, managing networks, user operations, and insurance-related matters.
