The GWM Cannon, the Chinese brand’s world renowned pickup truck brand celebrated a remarkable milestone as it marked the production of its 500,000th unit from the assembly line and to make this achievement even sweeter, the first batch of these coveted pickup trucks has officially landed in Malaysia as well.
This achievement is a testament to the reliability and durability of the GWM Cannon pickup truck which has shown impressive growth ever since its launch in 2019 and sold 100,000 units within the first year of launch.
Moreover, today, just a few short years since the pickup truck launched, this GWM pickup truck has set a new industry record and breathed new life into the Chinese premium pickup truck segment as its 500,000th unit officially rolled out from the assembly line, so clearly, customers simply can’t get enough of this car.
With the launch of the GWM Cannon, the brand’s pickup truck series has achieved several remarkable milestones and maintained its position as the best-selling pickup truck in China for 25 consecutive years and an accumulative sales figure of over 2.45 million units globally.
What’s more, the GWM Cannon pickup truck made up nearly 50 percent of the domestic market share from January to July this year and now we can enjoy this pickup truck in Malaysia too. Equipped with an electronic gear shifter, auto hold electronic parking brake, front electric seat adjustment, rear air-con vents, and a 3-Pin plug socket.
On top of that, the GWM Cannon also features L2 intelligent driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control (ACC), automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane-keeping assist (LKA), blind-spot detection (BSD), and a 360 camera, ensuring convenience and safety in both urban and off-road driving scenario.
Powering the GWM Cannon is a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine paired with a ZF 8AT transmission, making 163hp and peak torque of 400Nm. An intelligent four-wheel-drive system and four driving modes as well as 7 SRS Airbags (Dual Front, Side, Curtain, and Far Side) ensure a safe and smooth ride as well.
