New Voyah Free EV Launched In China With An incredible 1,221KM Of Range

Will we ever see this long range Voyah Free EV being sold in Malaysia?

The new Voyah Free extended range mid-sized SUV has been officially launched in the Chinese market and is available for purchase with a single version that is an EREV making 490hp, has 1,211km of CLTC range and century sprint time of 4.8 seconds.

Hot off the launch, the Voyah Free sports the world’s widest retractable screen at 1.066m and air suspension with max height adjustment of 100mm. 1,211km of range with an electric range of 210km. Plus, for an additional 10,000 yuan (about RM6,382) gets you a lifetime Apollo smart driving package.

Moreover, the Voyah Free has a starting price of 266,900 yuan (USD36,660). It is an insane decrease, compared to the previous version with the same powertrain that’s price was at least 333,600 yuan (USD45,820). All this cash gets one a new look as the facelift has a more aggressive bumper with large air intakes and front spoiler.

The headlights of the new Voyah Free are now connected with an LED unit that goes all the way through the grille, which is also redesigned. It has become smaller and lost all the chrome plating. The new Voyah Free has also got all-black five-spoke rims which gives the front end a much more aggressive look.

From the rear, the Voyah Free is also redesigned with a sportier roof spoiler and bumper while the taillights remain the same. From the side, the car also looks largely the same. It is also worth noting that the EV is a quite big SUV measuring, 4,905mm in length, 1,950mm in width and 1,645mm in height with a 2,960mm wheelbase.

On top of that, the interior also sports a redesigned center tunnel and a cleaner look with two wireless charging pads, a pair of cup holders, and a small row of physical buttons. The gear selector has also moved from the center tunnel to the steering column and a three 12.3-inch screens with one more touch screen for the second-row.

The new Voyah Free is available with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 150hp and does not transfer torque to the wheels. Instead, it acts like a generator, charging a battery or transferring energy directly to electric motors, the first of which is in the rear axle and makes 272hp and 410Nm of torque.

As for the second electric motor, it sits in the front axle and has a power output of 218hp and 310Nm of torque. This means the total power output of the new Voyah Free is 480hp and 720Nm of torque. It has a century sprint time of 4.8 seconds on to a top speed of 200km/h.

The battery on the new Voyah Free is a 39.2 kWh ternary unit from CATL. This means the car is capable of driving up to 210km on electric alone on a single charge. Combined with its engine, the range reaches 1,221km of CLTC range, thanks to a 56 litre fuel tank, a significant bump from the previous version with 960km of range.
