Dongfeng Voyah Free SUV To Launch Soon With 1,201KM Cruising Range

If Dongfeng brings the Voyah Free to Malaysia it will corner the EV market

Chinese automaker, Dongfeng has recently unveiled its new Voyah Free SUV. Customers can now place bookings for the car in China and the car will launch on 19 August 2023 at the 2023 Voyah Night event in China. If this electric vehicle (EV) SUV were to launch in Malaysia it would corner the market for its range alone.

The new Dongfeng Voyah Free measures 4,905mm in length, 1,950mm in width and 1,660mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,960mm. The car runs on 20-inch Michelin P4 tires and five-spoke rims and overall, the SUV looks sporty with its blacked out front grille along with the light strip running across the entire front fascia.

Moreover, in terms of safety, the new Dongfeng Voyah Free comes standard with Baidu’s Apollo Highway Driving Pro autonomous driving system. Baidu claimed that this system has gone through more than 60 million km of road testing and supports functions including full-speed adaptive cruise control and more.

On the inside, the cockpit is vibrant and rich but I personally find it a bit gaudy with the orange motif. The 1,066mm triple screen is also retained from the previous model, and is supported by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The center console offers two 50W wireless fast-charging panels as well.

On top of that, in the second row of the Dongfeng Voyah Free, passengers will have access to a touch screen positioned above the air-conditioning outlet, which supports music playback control, sunroof adjustment, brightness adjustment and more which is also a unique feature to this car if it were to be sold here in Malaysia.

The new Dongfeng Voyah Free is powered by a 1.5L hybrid engine, with dual front and rear motors, as well as an electric four-wheel drive system. The maximum power of the engine is 110 kW and the front motor outputs 160 kW while the rear motor outputs 200 kW, giving it a combined system power of 360kW and 720Nm of torque.

Furthermore, the new Dongfeng Voyah Free also has a 37.55 kWh battery pack, offering a comprehensive CLTC cruising range of 1,201km and a pure electric cruising range of 160km. I feel like this range alone will have customers flooding showrooms to buy it.
