Mercedes-Benz Unveils The New EQV EV Luxury Van, Coming To Malaysia?

Could the Mercedes-Benz EQV be the first all-electric luxury van in Malaysia?

While German luxury automaker, Mercedes-Benz, is definitely well known here in Malaysia, it is very obvious that the brand is lacking in a certain segment or two in the country, Yes I am, of course, talking about the luxury van segment. Well, we did briefly have the V-Class van here but that is ancient history.

Plus, given how the Volvo EM90 luxury all-electric van is already rolling off the production line in countries like China, it is only a matter of time before the more eco-conscious Dato’ and businessmen trade in their Alphards and Vellfires for this more electrifying option should it enter Malaysia.

Moreover, the Weststar Mifa is an all-electric luxury van that is being sold here in Malaysia but since I have yet to see one on the road with my own eyes, I can only assume that nobody has even heard of it or it simply does not measure up against rivals. So will the Mercedes-Benz EQV come here to capitalise?

So with the V-Class gone, Mercedes-Benz still has a very loyal fanbase that remembers this van and would love to see it return here. However, given that the German automaker is pushing very hard to shift to electrification, it stands to reason that the only viable option for the brand is the all-electric EQV instead.

The Mercedes Benz EQV and V Class vans are very popular in Europe and the Asian market. The customer spectrum varies widely and the models have always been particularly impressive thanks to their generous amount of space combined with a high level of comfort, as well as a high-quality and unique design.

On top of that, the highlights of the new Mercedes-Benz EQV include a new look. The further-developed design gives them a more distinctive and unique visual position in their segment. The new front design is characterised by a striking radiator grille in different forms and a powerfully defined bumper.

The interior design also impresses with an upgraded look, centred on digitisation. The cockpit of the Mercedes-Benz EQV is primarily characterised by a redesigned instrument panel with two 12.3-inch widescreen displays, stylish new air vents and a new-generation steering wheel with capacitive hands-off recognition.

Naturally, Safety is paramount on the Mercedes-Benz EQV and as such, ADAS systems such as Active Brake Assist are included. It can warn the driver of orthogonal crossing or oncoming vehicles and dangerous overtaking manoeuvres, as well as intervene to brake in an emergency and assist when turning.
