Last Call To Enjoy A Petrol-Powered Alfa Romeo As We Enter The End Of An Era

Alfa Romeo will soon close orders for petrol models soon and will go full EV after that

Sad news for petrolheads as Alfa Romeo officially announced that it will close orders on all petrol-powered Giulia and Stelvio models soon. Starting in March 2025, Alfa Romeo will close orders for all petrol-powered versions of the Giulia and Stelvio as the brand prepares to shift to a fully electric lineup of vehicles.

The phasing out of petrol engines is part of Alfa Romeo’s commitment to transitioning towards electrification. So when does this era end? Orders for the Giulia Quadrifoglio will close on 31 March 2025, while orders for the Stelvio Quadrifoglio will close on 30 April 2025 and orders for the Giulia and Stelvio 280hp (Sprint/Veloce/Intensa) will close on 31 May 31 2025.

Moreover, this announcement marks the end of an era for the beloved petrol-powered Giulia and Stelvio, vehicles known for their exhilarating driving experience, performance and Italian flair. As Alfa Romeo moves towards a fully electrified future, the next-generation Giulia and Stelvio are expected to be BEVs, while a hybrid may still be on the table as well.

Well, I suppose this was inevitable. After all, Alfa Romeo is not the first automaker that has abandoned its petrol lineup in favour of going full EV. This is devastating news as while petrol engines have long been the heart of performance-oriented models like the Giulia Quadrifoglio, regulations and climate changes make electrification necessary.

On top of that, for enthusiasts who have long admired the raw power and fun of these iconic petrol-powered models, this is your last chance to own one of these cars. The Giulia and Stelvio have both been very engaging and fun to drive cars that enthusiasts love. Just like a bunch of other automakers though, their iconic cars are being phased out so best act fast.

While the petrol-powered Giulia and Stelvio are nearing the end of their lives, Alfa Romeo is preparing for a new generation of electric vehicles (EVs) and there will also be a few hybrids in there so that’s something at least. Still, Alfa Romeo will be focusing on cutting edge technology for its new generation of cars so for those who like that, enjoy these cars.

The next-generation Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio will soon be the pinnacle of what an EV could be as it will still be as stylish as any Alfa while sporting the best technology possible and all the power any EV could push out. I would still choose a petrol engine over all this, though, what about you?
