Well, the German automaker in December 2023 did officially announce that it is recalling affected vehicles and Volkswagen customers were advised to check online if their car was affected.
The recall at the time was for some of its models produced between 2010 and 2014. A total of 6,671 vehicles were identified to undergo inspection under that recall. This was a significant number and a very likely serious threat.
Incidentally, the affected models were the sixth generation Volkswagen Golf GTI, EOS droptop, Passat CC, Polo, Beetle and Vento models, all of which are equipped with a specific driver front airbag gas generator housing.
