Perodua Closer Than Ever To EV Production With A Half-Cut Of Its First EV

So how close is Perodua to finally selling its EV in all its glory?

Remember last year when Perodua showed off its EV concept that was based on the Myvi? Well, now the brand has offered us an exciting glimpse into the future of mobility by unveiling a half-cut version of its EV prototype at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 and it looks far better than the version we got last year.

This partial yet strategic display served as the final chapter in Perodua’s ongoing EV journey, showcasing not only the exterior design but also the intricate inner workings and interior layout of the prototype. Visitors to the booth were treated to more than just a static display too as the entire half cut model was spinning around.

Moreover, Perodua also introduced a simulated driving experience, giving the public a chance to virtually test-drive the prototype and experience what an all-electric Perodua might feel like on the road but of course, until it is fully in production and we test drive it, no one will know for sure how it drives but knowing perodua, it should feel like any of its other cars to drive.

Perodua President and CEO, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said, “Our display highlights Malaysia’s capabilities in adopting and assimilating EV technologies as our own.” He emphasized that Perodua’s showcase at MAS 2025 reflects the national carmaker’s broader commitment to supporting electrification and sustainable development across the country.

On top of that, Perodua also showcased two other significant projects that underscore its investment in innovation and education. One highlight was the X06E, a working HEV/BEV prototype developed in collaboration with Politeknik Muadzam Shah that highlights the potential of Malaysia’s technical students.

Dato’ Sri Zainal further stated, “This collaboration proves that our technical students can produce and contribute to emerging technologies. It is part of Perodua’s mission to expand and strengthen the local automotive ecosystem by ensuring knowledge transfer to all Malaysians.”

Perodua’s commitment to green technology doesn’t stop at EVs. The automaker also introduced its partnership with Emerald Horizon, an Austria-based company focused on developing alternative energy sources using thorium, a rare earth element. The aim is to explore clean, sustainable energy solutions that reduce dependency on fossil fuel-generated electricity.

So are you excited to see what a Perodua EV would look like and how much would you like it to cost?
