Another Bus Accident Has Happened, What Is Going On These Days?

Why are there so many accidents involving buses out of nowhere?

Well, it happened again. A total of 28 individuals, including 13 university students, experienced a terrifying ordeal when the express bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident with a lorry early this morning. The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 AM at Kilometer 161.5 along the East Coast Expressway (LPT), heading eastbound. What’s happening here?

The bus, which had departed from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) in Kuala Lumpur, was en route to Terminal Sentral Kuantan (TSK) in Pahang when the collision happened. Among the passengers were students from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), who were returning to campus after a break or personal trip.

Moreover, according to early reports, the accident involved a direct impact between the express bus and a lorry, though the exact cause is still under investigation by authorities. The impact left many passengers in shock, but fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. All 28 bus passengers, including the UMPSA students, along with the lorry driver, escaped unharmed.

Emergency services, including the police and highway patrol units, responded swiftly to the scene after receiving an emergency call. They managed traffic flow around the affected area and ensured the safety of the passengers. Medical personnel were also deployed to conduct health checks and provide assistance to those who may have been shaken by the incident.

On top of that, passengers were transferred to a replacement vehicle to continue their journey to Kuantan, and authorities are now working with the bus operator to provide any necessary support or follow-up for the passengers involved. An official statement from the East Coast Highway Authority urged all drivers to exercise caution, particularly at night.

They reminded road users that fatigue, poor visibility, and high speeds are among the key contributors to night-time accidents. UMPSA has since acknowledged the incident and confirmed that all of its students are safe. The university stated that it is monitoring the situation closely and will provide any necessary support to its students affected by the incident.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and authorities are expected to release further details once a thorough assessment has been completed. In the meantime, road users are urged to prioritize safety at all times, especially when using major expressways like the LPT. Please remember to always stay safe on the road.
